Better than the nasty cut is if Otto Wallin would have dropped Fury like Ruiz did to Joshua over and over Fury crawling around on the canvas!
I'm not a big Fury fan (inside the ring) but he had a bad cut and still won comfortably, although he was badly hurt in round 12. Nothing to talk about here
It'll be debated and pondered on ESB forums until we get close to the Wilder vs Kong rematch... or until Ruiz vs Joshua II or until Fury heals and has a Rematch confidence builder against Swartz!
Besides being cut badly imo Fury only lost 3 rounds and put a thumping on Wallin. I'm no Fury or Wilder fan, but I don't get what Fury's getting so much stick for either.
He didn`t look good against a limited southpaw, what would Usyk do him on this form? He looked far better v Wilder.
Wallin just isn't that good. He got lucky that one of the few meaningful punches he landed in the fight, caused that much damage. Dude was awful, he punched like he was a converted southpaw, he had little punch variety or athleticism.
Why the delay? Why did Fury take 2 tuneups? If the plan really was to take the Wilder rematch at a later date, in order to built it up; then it's clear that Fury never intended to take though fights during that timespan. So Fury fighting two nobodies was intentional.
Agreed. If he felt he beat Wilder easily 1st time, why jeopardize by fighting two people in between...While constantly stating it is to get him ready for the rematch. Wilder must be the only unskilled boxing HW champ in history that has the lineal champ needing tune ups (plural).
I get why they did it. I even like the idea. ESPN and Top Rank needed to build up Fury. Fine with me to be honest. But at least fight someone recognizable. Someone who has shown their worth. But instead Top Rank again goes with the nobody who has a shiny, undefeated record. (This is common with Top Rank, they do it often enough) And then the audacity to pretend that nobody else want's the fight. While also mocking everyone else's competition. Drives me nuts to see people defend such actions.
