I never stated that as fact. That’s opinion and I broke down why I think that. And I believe I said start to tiring. He wouldn’t be completely gassed at 6. But would def be slowing down imo and Marciano being able to counter Holmes jab is something I don’t think he’d have a problem doing as you could watch any Rocky fight and watch him counter jabs yourself

Ok what Holmes opponent has more ranked wins. I’ll wait you’re the expert.

Never mentioned combos and I never suggested Holmes would attempt to keep him at range why should he? He would be strong enough to tie him up inside.imo .
A 5'10" guy uppercutting a 6'3" one might work occasionally, the reverse definitely would ,especially if the little guy is a croucher. ps Marciano never fought a class 6'3" big man with speed and an ATG jab ,maybe that's why he was never kept at range?

In no expert just an average poster getting a little tired of being told to watch films I bought before the fella making the request was ****ing born! Thereby implying I am ignorant of them!

I never said you did. I said you implied it was logical. Imo it's not.

There's only one man I'd pick to consistently counter and party the jab Holmes showed against Ali in 1980. And funnily enough it's Ali himself

There is nothing wrong with looking back on something to verify. Which is all I asked you to do. I’ve seen many Holmes fights but after reading what many of you are saying (mainly in regards to stamina) I will admit maybe I have to rewatch a few fights. Probably Norton later today. No one has a perfect memory.

Here are the scores.
referee: Ruby Goldstein 2-4 | Joe Agnello 2-5 | Harold Barnes 3-4

Hardly a domination.Louis was doing okay until his legs went after the 5th round.

Or was it the knockout drops in Marciano's gloves?

Please clarify what you are saying then, if you feel that you are being unfairly misrepresented!

Moore was the strongest contender with the best heavyweight wins in the division. If your definition that a great fighter must be champion of the division in order to be great in that division then Moore cannot qualify. But this is narrow grounds to downplay a fighter who was arguably nigh on pound for pound the best fighter at that time.

Holmes was asked in 2009 who he thought his toughest opponent would be -

Holmes- "Well, I'd say Marciano right now because he throws punches from anywhere, from anywhere, from any direction. And he was strong and he took punches. ”

JOE LOUIS

"It hurt to bump into him....He hits harder than Max Schmeling...this kid is tough enough to beat anyone."
and
"The Rock didn't know too much about the boxing book, but it wasn't a book he hit me with. It was a whole library of bone crushers."

re Don Turner. I’ve always found him more accurate on older fighters than Manny.

Louis actually said ,when asked if Marciano hit harder than Schmeling.
"This kid knocked me out with what two punches,Schmeling knocked me out with ,musta been a hundred punches, course I was twenty two years old then you can take more than later." Not the same thing, reminiscent of your stretcher story?
I've always found Don Turner to be a surly self promoting ***** who makes claims that are either highly dubious,"Charlie Goldman trained me," or down right," silly pad work is of no value," and," cut men are a con".Andre Ward is an average fighter," " The Kli'ts cant fight" "Floyd Mayweather would be a 4round fighter in my day" etc Total nonsense.

Steward is an ATG trainer Turner is not.

Meh I'm going to ignore the words of legandary fighters who stepped into the ring with Marciano. I'd rather take the words of posters in a forum who've never stepped in the ring themselves. They're much more reliable.

It would simply mean that either

A) he had serious power but missed a lot/wasnt a good finisher.

B) he was indeed a volume puncher and his power was overrated.

You are trying to have it both ways.

Tyson, Liston, foreman, shavers never teed off and swung for the fences with non stop "power punches" and failed to ko their opponent (if they connected) or tool forever to ko them the way rocky did.

That's why he's not in their echelon of power.
