Somebody besides of me believe that hatton did cut weight?the guy looked strong like hell for the weight, his frame looked thick and strong
Poor Ricky .. post Paq he has been cast aside .. he was a very good , tough guy in his prime .. I don't see him doing any better vs Pryor ..
He didn't overlook it the fight was offered to Pryor and Buddy DeLarosa for $750,000 and he turned it down...there was no money for Duran at 140 he had been fighting non title fights at 140 but had no interest in a title there. As for the fight Pryor's straight punches and workrate would look something like the Paq fight with Hatton being overwhelmed
Pryor wins this one in a War for several rounds, but the accumulation of punches on him wears him down, he probably puts Pryor down once or twice as did 7 other guys, but the stimulants help him pop right back up and he KO's Ricky around round 5-8 or so.
The Hawk will beat a very talented fighter in Hatton, in a workman performance as in the first Alexis Arguello title bout in 1982. Pryor down early, as in the past. But quickness and power prevail in a unanimous decision victory.
I'm pretty sure Pryor would win but this would he fun while it lasted. Two guys who naturally fought off the front foot. Pryor would go headhunting from the opening bell, trying to swarm and overhelm Hatton with his high volume assault. Hatton's best chance would be to go straight to the body in an attempt to wear his more mobile opponent down. Problem for Ricky is that he needs to avoid Pryor's head shots and Ricky's defense wasn't the greatest.
Ricky's best chance is to say in close IMO. There Pryor doesn't have his preferred punching range (mid range / surprise long attacks).
I agree with this. It's a pity Pryor never fought Duran or Leonard to show what he could do. At his peak, he was a destroyer. Hatton would not last long.
I wouldn't really say hatton was overrated, he was destroyed by Pac but was competitive with Mayweather, I think he would have lost anyway but he wasn't helped by the refereeing. He had some good wins and was indeed very strong physically for the weight. Pryor too good for him but can't see him getting blasted out like the Pac fight.
I really like Hatton's infighting. Some pretty old school stuff in there. Makes sense when he has a short reach I don't know who the hell Pryor beat to bring about comments on levels. I don't think Pryor was nearly as good as Mayweather.
