    Hagler??

Definitely not. There were over 20 fighters who became World MIddleweight Champion at a younger age than Hagler, who was 26 at the time.

The youngest is Al McCoy who was only 19 when he became champion!

The reason I know this is because a while ago I wanted to find out if Randolph Turpin had the shortest reign of any World Middleweight Champion and put a spreadsheet together that included information such as each champion's date of birth and dates when they won and lost the title.
From the last two, the duration of their reign can be worked out with a formula (I'm good with spreadsheets!)
These boxers can be then arranged in ascending or descending order in any of these categories.

So I'm the go to guy if anyone has questions about World Middleweight Champions!

And, incidentally, Turpin does have the shortest reign of any of them.

I didn't have a column for that but if I had to choose, it would be between Sugar Ray Robinson and Randolph 'RANDY' Turpin.

I've a question David, and I don't know the answer but hoping you do. Who scored the fastest KO in a middleweight title fight?
Lineal or alphabet belt, just which is the quickest?

Gerald McClellan knocked out Jay Bell in 27 seconds in a WBC Middleweight Title bout.

Good man. That sounds like it's gotta be the shortest ko. Thanks David!

    You're welcome.
    It's often listed as being 20 seconds - it's actually 27.

This will really test your knowledge who became middleweight champion with the least amount of fights

Didn't Hopkins stop Steve Frank in 24 seconds in an IBF title fight?

I'll look at this later to check how long the fight is. Boxrec says this is the 2nd shortest fight after the McClellan bout.

They say McClellan's fight was 20 seconds but it's actually 27. If the timing is correct for the Hopkins fight then it will be the shortest fight.

I've looked at the fight again. Bell goes down after 14 seconds, is given a long count by the referee who counts him out after 27 seconds.

I'm not sure how it's recorded as 20 seconds.
I've just checked the Hopkins vs Frank fight and the referee calls it off after 24 seconds - prematurely in my opinion.

So, the Hopkins vs Frank fight is shorter.
