I remember in the boxing mags Hamsho was the second best middleweight in the world for about 3 years in a row, would have been a champ if not for Marvin Hagler

Billy Petrolle has to be right up there

Kenny Lane was outstanding. Had a win over Carlos Ortiz

Howard Winstone came within half a point of beating Vincente Saldivar

In the alphabet era, I think Angel Manfredy was one of the better fighters to never pick of a trinket. He was pretty inconsistent, but when he was on his game he was definitely championship caliber

Winstone won the vacant title against Seki when Saldivar retired.

Lane has a win over Ortiz ,and 2 losses to him.Let's be honest, neither he nor Manfredy were ATG's.The AP scoring had Saldivar winning their 1 st fight 9-3-3 the 2nd 9-6,and he stopped Winstone in their 3rd fight. ATG?

We obviously have entirely different definitions of what constitutes an ATG!
