I wonder about that. When I train I become stronger. When he trains he becomes Spongebob Squarepants. Makes little sense to me.
I think this week I tried to convince myself that the nick Fury got impacted his performance. But your post made me realise I'm just not coming to terms with reality. The Fury of the Joey Abel fight is not coming back. He's done at keep-busy level.
I love how when Fury struggles, he's shot or unmotivated/overlooked his opponent, but when Pac doesn't blow someone away, he's exposed or off PEDs.
Bowe was shot at 29, the excuse often cited is 'wars with Evan Fields' but the real reason was lifestyle and blowing up and down in weight between fights. I don't know if Fury is shot but Wallin was a poor display and Fury is still not the professional athlete he needs to be.
He adjusted against a better than advertised opponent. Sufferd a bad cut and then beat the tar out of him from rounds 7-11 hurt him several times. Did he look great - he was no better than so so in first 3. The mid rounds nothing special then he really started using his size, punch variety and strength to go to work. He was costing at the start of the 12 and took a big shot. He might have been a bit too light on the scales and Wallin may have been better than he was supposed to be. It was a decent scrap and other than a horrific cut will have done Fury good to get in there with someone coming to win
No one is shot, no one is past it. Otto Wallin was just a lot better than people thought he was. I thought he was good enough to do a thread on him, well he was even better than I thought. Had he not gassed, in all likelihood he'd have probably stopped Fury. Get over it. It happens. And it's beyond dismissive and disrespectful to the opponents who caused fighters these issues to begin with. This is a two man dance, not one. Just because you may have a preconceived notion as to how a match is going to play out, doesn't mean it's all going to go as planned, because after all, the opponent has a little say in these matters as well. I'm nauseated by the excuse making when someone does poorly or looks subpar, or idiotic theorizing. YES... sometimes... as in usually.... it's because the opponent is responsible. Occasionally it's due to a bad style match up. Sometimes it's because the opponent took the match far more seriously than they did, and sometimes, like I said earlier.... an unknown commodity is better than everyone thought he was.
Fury got cut, was blind in one eye and the rest of the fight was an awkward mess. He wouldn't have fought inside with Wallin except for the cut. If the cut isn't a problem he'll be just as effective against Wilder the next time. Wilder's skills aren't improving. He only relies on the big punch. Eventually that will fail him and he'll be exposed as a one trick pony. However, if the cut is an ongoing problem, Fury is finished.
He’s not shot. Might be on the slide however, and now this cut may be a constant problem. The next year we will find out if wallin is any good and if fury can raise his performance. Which he normally does
Serious over reaction here from many. Fury is not **** but maybe believing he can not train properly drink before a fight and fighting certain boxers instead of boxing them. The reason everybody is saying fury is finished is because he went 12 hard rounds with wallin but if you look at this closer the reason for this is obvious. Fury whether he admits or not thought wallin was going to be a walk over so when he starts sloppy and then get cut and not only cut probably 1 of the worst cuts in the last few years he has only 1 option because for the first time in his career he knows that the fight will probably be stopped and he has to try and stop wallin asap, this is not Fury's style he has never had to do this so walking down an opponent and having to stop them has not been part of Fury's style since his very early fights and what did we get with Fury's early fights? All out wars and fury looking very vunreable at times. This is all that happened against wallin nothing more. Fury has only felt pressure going into 4 fights in his career, Klitschko Wilder Chisora 2 ( because this was for the mandortory position for wlad) Schwarz ( ESPN debut Vegas debut blah blah blah) These are in my opinion his 4 career best performances! Fury is a freak in terms of he is 1of very few fighters in recent years who really can perform consistently when it really matters. People need to stop looking into the wallin fight to much he will be a completely different fighter against wilder in the rematch. A few things that seem to be worrying for me if I'm truthful though is that I don't think is fully over his drinking habit , if it's true he had a few drinks before the wilder fight I find that really alarming and I also think that Davidson as much as he has done an amazing job getting into shape and back in a ring I can't fully believe fury is actually listening to him in the corner. Only time will tell , having his dad not around in America I also think over time may become his downfall. In my opinion if he comes through wilder with the victory with everything else going on with regards to the above I think we will have to all admit he is a true one of a kind.
The only thing which was noticeable was he seemed easier to hit than usual. Credit has to go to Otto for that.
Christ. A lot of you all haven't figured out the Fury roller coaster yet. Maybe you will get it when he lifts the WBC belt from Wilder next year. Fury still has problems with training and drinking...we get that. Also, he was in there against a big, undeated South paw who came to fight. Next fight out will be against a big, stiff fraud who Tyson has already beaten. He will do so twice as easily.
