Is Mike Tyson's intimidating aura a real thing that helped him win fights?

Yep, it's real. Plays with their minds and really drains the energy and passion eventually shown. It like a thick aura that hinders your breathing.

Fighters can get past it though.

Absolutely. However opponents learned that in a tough fight Tyson’s mystique was only skin deep. Under pressure Tyson became a much more ordinary sedate fighter. He became confused and unable to plot a plan B.

I think his aura helped him to win some fights easier than he otherwise would have, but I don't think he won any fights he would have lost otherwise.

Except the Thomas fight would contradict this statement wouldn't it?

If there is anything we learned about Tyson's losses is that when a fighter beat him, they usually get to him early and control the fight early. It's never really a situation where Tyson is winning the fight and cedes control when an opponent "fights back".

Douglas controlled the fight early. So did Holyfield and Lewis.

Well it's really simple tbh, if they figure him early they have him solved right from that point. He didn't exactly have a plan B and didn't really adapt his style once troubled.

That would be a more accurate statement based on what we've seen from Tyson. Although the Botha fight would be a notable exception.

But in a more typical situation, you either figure out him quickly or you keep him occupied long enough to lose a wide decision or suffer a savage knockout loss.

Its almost like there is no in between with him.

    Quick fight lesson on Fear.

Cortisol is released in response to fear or stress by the adrenal glands as part of the fight-or-flight mechanism. If this occurs say around the moment they sign the contract to face Mike, they’ve got huge problems. Real problems.

It can derail your body’s most important functions. It can also lead to a number of health problems, including not being able to sleep properly, weakened immune systems, weight gain, and concentration problems. Yes. Iron mike tyson scared people. Yeah it caused them to not be 100% because they were truly afraid. Once Douglas wasn’t, which happened at the same time tyson was unmotivated, Tyson loses. Once it’s gone it never comes back. Tyson lost more than the fight that night in Japan

I felt Mike looked pretty tough, I could be wrong though.
