You notice no one was calling Kovalev shot until Canelo decided to fight him?

I along with @IntentionalButt and @lepinthehood are the Krusher's biggest fans on the site.

I'm more than willing to give Kovalev every benefit of the doubt and literally make excuses for him, but.... even started losing faith and wrote this article after he fought and lost to Eleider Alvarez for the first time.
Into The Abyss: Krusher Shrugged-The Painful Fall From Grace Of Sergey Alexandrovich Kovalev.

Thankfully Kovalev, as I thought he was capable of, dug down deep and powered through this rough spot. But he's still faaaaaaaaaaaaaar from peak Krusher.

So my point is.... EVERYONE WAS CALLING KOVALEV SHOT.

    You're an ass.

i made this post in february, so canelo challenging does not surprise me. at the time i said this, i dont recall anyone even seriously considering a kovalev fight for canelo. now everyone saw it coming.

what a stupid thread. Why does it matter what some think or don't think?
It's just a fact that he's at the end of a great career--Kovalev himself said had he lost to Yarde he'd of retired, calling him shot to bits is over the top but he is judged on how he were, after being knocked out and avenging that loss would indicate he's nearly done.
By the way,we would say this about any 35yr old in the same position.

You were spot on and I'm sure you know how Oscar thinks?
Funny how you get folk with totally opposite opinions on this?I've said this before but this is the nature of boxing,to take on fights at opportune times.I'm sure some on here expect their favourite boxers to take on and build a resume of everyone in their prime?
It's rare that champions get to do what Floyd did,he was good enough to still beat the younger guys, the majority will get challenged and beaten like Wlad to Joshua.
Clearly Oscar and Canelo did have their eye on Kovalev and feel there's a weakness there and there's absolutely nothing wrong about that.

i predicted canelo would one day beat ggg, 2 years before they ever fought. i posted advising him to go after the sergio martinez fight, immediately after the martinez-macklin fight. instead, cotto ate that peach that was bursting with juice.
im not a canelo fan, but im a fan of his work, and i understand his work and where its always stood. i think you will see canelo at the very top form that you will ever see him, against kovalev... this will be the version of canelo that will get compared to the atg fighters of the past.

Maybe Wards right, maybe he’s not the “Krusher” any more. But yeah, I think people have been saying this for the past few years now... if not shot, definitely declined.

Question is, how much credit will Canelo get if he wins...

Shot fighters don't avenge losses and become champions.

Ali did... it turned out Spinks was never really that good in the first place and was just there at the right place at the right time, but it still happens.
Was Alvarez really that good in the first place? He only scraped by old Pascal and Chilemba... How good is Yarde really? We don't know.

To me, a shot fighter struggles or loses to guys, that when in their prime, would have beaten easily. That hasn't happened yet. That being said, he is not the same fighter he was 8 years ago.

Prime Krusher would have wrecked Yarde, and you can take that to the bank.

    This.

Yarde only game plane was to punch like a mule kick and pray it lands.
