No, as many have already pointed out. There's been several absolutely vicious stinkers this year. The main event, along with Barrios vs. Akhmedov and Lopez vs. Molina make this a very solid card. All three of those matches going to be barnburners. The only match I think will be lackluster is Benavidez vs Dirrell.

yep.. I just buy the cheap seats, then I move down to the expensive seats. I did that at the Fury-Wilder fight... there were tons of open seats.. so I just move down when the main fights start. done it like 4 times already at staples center

Spence v Porter is actually a decent fight in terms of "name" quality fighters.
Spence is one of the P4P contenders, Porter is a high level gatekeeper type who always causes problems and beats the likes of Broner- crude but effective unless you have top quality skills.
I wouldn't pay for the PPV mind, but hardly terrible names.

Will the PPV flop should be the question. As far as matchup , it is a really good fight. Two of the top guys at welter putting it on the line.

It's actually a great fight and matchup, and no it's not PPV worthy, but hell this year there's been worse so let's not go off the deep end.

Can see your point but I think anyone who has watched Spence and Porter in the last couple of fights will realize what this ..

    It is:

    1. Unification fight for two world titles

    2. Many people's choice as no.1 welterweight (or Crawford) against someone who has defied the odds time and time again and deserves his world title as much as Spence.

I don't get people's problem with this other than maybe the price, but PPV is being phased out anyway. I'll be watching on Sky Sports so not a problem for me. Looking forward to what should be a good fight.

It is what it is. None of these two have enough star appeal to capture peoples attention and grab their wallets to watch them.

There is only one true star in boxing right now, Lomachenko. This guy can sell out stadiums anywhere he goes.

    Thread update:

55 year old Nigel "the walker assisted destroyer" Benn will fight 40 year old retiree Sakio Bika on a £14,95 ($18,50) PPV.
Just to put things in perspective here.

It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the extortionate price! People comparing it to Rivas Whyte, Progress Taylor or even Fury's last two fights need to remember that you could buy all four of those fights here in the UK for the price of Spence v Porter (pretty much) that's laughable. Or stateside you could have DAZN for 6 months or ESPN for like the whole year at a similar cost!! Lol for Porter v Spence!! Hahaha

If this fight does over 200k buys I will say Spence is getting over.

Honestly I don't think quite a number of people commenting on this follow boxing closely if you aren't looking forward to Spence Porter regardless of how it plays out. Two champions, hype around how far Spence can go, word is he might move up in weight due to being a big welterweight. Porter has proved himself time and time again against the odds, going to be a closer fight than people anticipate, should be a good watch too.

The price maybe should be the only complaint.

No one is disagreeing with you regarding the excitement behind the fight. Most boxing fans are looking forward 2 this matchup.

This thread is simply about does this fight belong on PPV at this stage of the game?

It’s easily worth the hype/marketing but for some reason they’re not interested in investing for it. This fight has action packed written all over it. Shawn Porter is rarely, if ever, in boring fights.

Unification bout involving two top Welters.
    I'm going to buy it.
