Greatest Hooker Ever?

    No, I'm not talking about the biggest prostitute ever (that's for a different forum), but hooks as in the punch.

    I've been thinking Mickey Walker might well be. I'm very impressed by his ability to judge range and land powerful hooks, often without other punches to find the range first.

    'Mighty' Mike Tyson. Few fighters had both left and right hook in their arsenal. Even fewer could go to the body and head with both. Tremendous technique and accuracy. Just tremendous.

    Frazier without a doubt, think about this, how many other fighters that only threw a left hook were as successful, not to mention world champion, not to mention champion in the greatest era of boxing. Every fight he went into his opponent knew exactly what he was going to do and not even a 5 dimensional boxer like Ali could stop him from doing it.

    Notable mentions going to Patterson, Tyson, Morrison, roy, tua, cotto, benn, Louis, cooney and Bob foster. All of which had great hooks, but not a man past or present ever mastered the left hook in all its forms like Frazier did.

    Olivares, Frazier, Trinidad come to mind right away. Patterson’s was lethal too.

    Keed needs a boxing lesson! No hwt today exhibits the level of skill that Dempsey possessed. There is a reason everyone and their brother called him the greatest or one of the greatest fighters that ever lived.

    Sam Langford:
    “Dempsey is the greatest fighter I have ever seen”.

    Add to this boxing’s greatest trainers Arcel, Bimstein.

    Add to this Lou Stillman.

    Add to this Nat Fleischer.

    List is endless. If you think differently you need to look closer and know what you are looking at.

    Do I? Don't you think Marciano was more skilled than Lomachenko? That's embarrassing.
    And also, re read my post. Did I say that Dempsey wasn't on a level with the guys today? No. But if you think he's more skilled than Fury? Wow.
    Does Usyk count as a HW? I mean he's bigger than Dempsey, so he probably should in this debate. He's far more skilled than Jack.

    But anyways, I said he wasn't top 5 for hooks.

    5 HWs with better left hooks than Dempsey. Tbh if I was pressed and given the benefit of the doubt I could do another 5.
