Best version vs best version (at 140-147 only). Just some random fights. Tim Bradley Marcos Maidana Shawn Porter Shane Mosley Juan Manuel Marquez Zab Judah
Nope Bradley's was a hungry lion at 140 Not a penny in his pocket stats in shape consummate pro un like wicky
Hatton was largely ineffective at 147. He struggled with and arguably lost to Collazo, who was inferior to anyone on this list. Porter is a horrible style match-up for Hatton. Although he never campaigned at 140, Mosley was a superior fighter to Hatton at any weight. I think Marquez would be able to time Hatton, and pressure fighters rarely gave him major problems like speed and movement did. The remaining fights at 140 are tough to call. I’d lean towards the best version of Hatton being able to wear Judah down over the stretch, but Zab at his best was a very sharp dangerous puncher who could take Hatton out at any point. I think Hatton has enough versatility to find a way to win against Maidana, even if he started to get the worst of the inevitable battle in the trenches. He could certainly hurt Maidana to the body like Khan did. Hatton-Bradley is a pick em - both guys have the tools to win. Bradley struggled with rough customers like Chaves, but he was very good at working to a game plan. At his best he was one of the most adaptable fighters in the game.
He beats Bradley, Porter, and probably Maidana. Gets battered by Mosley And stood on his head by Marquez.
Has brutal wars/ugly clinch fights he wins with Bradley, Marquez (too old and small), Maidana and Porter. Loses by Brutal stoppage to Mosley at 147 and absolutely smashes Judah at any weight
Porter is like a bigger huggier dirtier version of hatton. He comes into the ribg huge. Cant see Ricky beating him unless he repeated the urango performance but porter is more aggressive by far. Would favour Hatton over Maidana. Other than power Hatton is better on every level. Speed, footwork. Variety. Jmm would have been a great fight. Jmm was an atg. So id lean there with his timing and ability to adapt Hatton was awful against lefties, zab had massive speed and power. Yeab he was a bit of a mental midget but cant see hatton winning. Bradley found a way to win and was tough as nails. Cant se3 hatton winning there either Mosley would ruin hatton at 147
Those guys at their best, I would see he has a shot against Maidana & Bradley. I'd pick the others to beat him however. At 147, Hatton was never impressive, in fact I felt he was extremely fortunate against Collazo. He lost that fight imo.
At 140 he beats Maidana, Bradley and JMM. At 147 he loses to them all outside of Maidana who at 147 is 50/50.
good memory (and good benchmark to assess the rest of the list)! i believe that fight was one of Hatton's first in the US (a title fight in fact); Hatton faded badly in the last two rounds. I was surprised at the result
I can see Hatton having foty contenders against maidana and porter and probably getting his hand raised on home turf The other guys on that list box Hattons head off! Can see prime Mosley and Marquez stopping him for sure
Good list of fighters there. Tbf there all a hard nights work for almost everyone but the true elite. Even then maidana/judah gave floyd good work. Marquez gave pacman very good work. Prime mosley was elite. I reckon hattons massively underrated nowadays tho. His footwork or his footspeed even...was probably the fastest on that list. It would have caused them all problems. I reckon he could possibly beat them all barring prime mosley at 140 on his best day. If say you stuck any one of them in instead of tyszu that night. The problem hatton has tho is he needed to put so much into a fight against a top operater like every one of them on the list....he probably couldnt have kept winning against that level back to back. He probably did lack a bit of pure skill and had pretty small dimensions....he overcame that with workrate and great stamina etc. It gets hard when you need to keep doing that at that level fight after fight tho. The really skilled guys have more luck with it. I reckon he,d do well against all of them barring a young mosely if they fought him instead of tyszu that night...back when ricky was really hungry. Before he started to slow down. All at 140 tho. I still say tyszu that night wojld havd beat most of them on that list. He was older but he came prepared. The pace wss non stop. It was testament to tyszu he lasted till the 11th round at his age. No one that wasnt training seriously would have lasted till then. Think his training regime was legendary anyway. Sure i read he trained up to 8 hours a day etc.
