Probably the first and last time I'll defend Warren but apparently Dubois wants to win all the titles along the way, so this joke of an opponent was necessary to continue that quest.
So if Huck pulls out of the European title shot with Joyce I’ll expect to see Dubois name thrown in there.
I was surprised to hear Warren say earlier in the week that Dubois v Joyce could happen early next year. I reckon BT are putting pressure on him to deliver competitive fights.
Bt should be putting pressure on. They need to put him with someone were there's at least some intrigue? He's too good to be fighting guys fresh from the masai-mara.
Dubois is a genuine talent, but he needs 12 rounds desperately, and not at a pedestrian pace against a punchbag like Johnson. We all know what happened with Bruno who was dispatching opponents with ease before he mismanaged’ his output against Bonecrusher Smith. We don’t want Dubois learning this in a big fight, ideally we want him to learn this against someone durable but who can force the pace. I’m not even sure Chisora fits the bill. He would get smoked mid rounds against Dubois. So he needs an opponent who will vary their attacks and pace. Ironically, the fella who Chisora starched would be ideal....Takam.
They’ve also got almost **** all in terms of prime time boxing. Maybe Yarde but when’s he next gona fight? Warrington popularity seems to be dwindling. Saunders gone, Fury in America. The BT/Frank Warren prime time Saturday night stable is at its weakest since the start of the deal.
Tetteh was a total pro. No eye contact with Dubois, forgot to put his gumshield in, turned his back to touch the corner on the first bell and then pushed the ref who saved him from more clubbing fists. Where'd they get him from?
tbh scissors maybe a few years ago we might not have been as demanding/critical but they are miles behind in terms of quality and putting on tripe like that isn't good enough.
