Both had competitive fights with Shawn Porter. García received an unfavorable verdict in his, and Spence got the nod - although you could flip either decision and it wouldn't be terribly unfair. Probably in Q1 next year. WBC (1st defense of Spence) and IBF (5th defense of Spence) titles on the line.
I think he stops Garcia late because I just dont think Garcia is durable enough to withstand the onslaught for 12 rounds. I will say this though DSG is a very underrated boxer and he could surprise us all and simply outbox Spence for a close decision win and his left hook is still a factor if he lands it.
Spence will win a decision. He will box him on the outside and in that fight he would be pressured like with Porter, although Garcia hits harder than Porter.
Garcia doesn't have enough tricks up his sleeves. The one-punch counter hooks will work on the Amir Khan types but Spence is too smart for that. Also way too big and strong. Stops Garcia in an entertaining fight. Also, looking forward to Angel Garcia going at it with Derrick James.
DSG will be a far easier fight for Spence. It's only Crawford who can beat Spence. I wish it could happen. This is a good time for them to fight.
I don't like this fight that much. It's a bit of a step down. I think Spence's style is more suited to Garcia. He'll have a much easier time than with Porter. Garcia is more methodical and straight up. He will not disrupt Spence's rhythm like Porter did.
Spence proved tonight that he can be timed and repeatedly. Danny has pretty damn good timing and he's accurate as hell. If he fights Spence like he fought Thurman for the last 6 rounds of their fight or like how he fought Granados, he walks him down, catches him and out him down for the count. I've always thought Spence's chin is very suspect, after the Lartey incident, that did not change after tonight. If Danny catches him with some of the hooks Porter did, he'll be Fast Asleep Earl instead of just Sleepy Eyed.
...and, you know, Shawn Porter. (I did score it for Spence, but only by the skin of his teeth with the knockdowns saving his bacon)
I really hate DSG, but he might give Spence a bit of work based on last night. I previously would've thought it was an easy night for Spence but now I'm thinking a hard-fought (but probably not controversial, like Porter's) decision loss for Swift.
