Boring. Smith will box Ryder at range for an easy points win or late stoppage. Far too much difference in height, reach and general ability. Ryder is solid but can't see him having much success here.
David Benavidez is 6”2. Ramirez before he just moved up is 6”3. Caleb Plant 6”1. Jose Uzcategui is 6”2. Andre Dirrell is 6”1. Rocky Fielding is around 6”2-6”3. My point is, at 6”3 he isn’t as freakishly big as you think he is. It’s a weak division at the minute and we have natural 160’s moving up taking advantage of that, hence the notable difference in size. I think you’re unnecessarily harsh on the lad, Len. He’s an honest lad, doesn’t give it the big un & is respectful towards his opponents. He’s probably got 2 more fights at 168 before he moves up. He’ll look tall in that division too.
Callum Smith is a massive weight bully and i hate that.....He can basically make 168lb for 1 day a year!!! I really really hope this is the fight that catches up with him and the Gorilla chops him down...
wrong....Joe gallagher has even said this will be his last fight at 168 because he will be less that 5% body fat to make that weight and its not healthy..... Smith only fights once a year because he can only make the weight for a few hours ....I really hope it catches up with him like it did Jarrett Hurd
I’m only having fun winding up some cranky British fans, 20! I’ve nothing personally against callum, who as you say is a decent sort. But I really DO say he is a massive size bully. Plus it’s n most fights I found him boring and unentertaining to be honest. As for his size, He even dwarfed groves and HE was a size bully his himself! He’s half a foot taller than Benn Eubank Hagler and most middle weight greats. Taller than many heavyweight greats. Anyway John Ryder is a nice fella himself l. Very pleasant lad. I’m gonna be cheering for John.
It's an okay fight, nothing more. We'd feel better about it if it happened say 4-5 months after the Groves fight. But it hasn't, so it seems a little weaker. Smith should win handily but Ryder has earned a shot so it is what it is.
It's a good fight for what has to be deemed as Smith's 'return.' Ryder should push him but there's no doubt that Callum should be able to outbox him for a points win.
Very decent non PPV card. Be interesting who Price fights. Think Bakole is likely but I would like to see him have a chance at redemption against Teper without the PEDS
I don’t think Price would take Bakole. It’s either a low risk fight for ok money or he wants the big ones for his retirement fund. Bakole is high risk and little reward.
I fear Price may have a false confidence listening to his comments. Price was good but Allen really couldn't have been any worse.
To add some context to the "weight bully" claims, does anyone know either: 1) Smith's walking around weight? 2) His normal fight day weight? I haven't been able to find anything concrete on these. He may well just be one of those guys who has a huge frame for his weight. They did exist even in the same day weigh-in era, before the concept of being a weight bully (in the modern sense) existed.
ask @Scissors he is pals with him.... The rumours i have heard for years is he can only make the weight when he is ripped to the bone ,hence his inactivity .. I think there shuld be a weekly weigh in coming up to a title fight .....
