Yes, the only issue is slowing down/pacing for 12 rounds. No I don’t see your logic at all. Any boxer who won a gold medal at the recent World Championships could beat their respective weight world champion in the pros over three rounds.

Dude there is only one case of a PRO achieving something after coming back to fight amateurs and it happened last week, for the last 2 3 years all the professional boxers failed against the amateur ones. I see you didnt get my point at first.

When they allow the cream of the NBA to participate in the Olympics then forget about it being an amateur competiton
Now today they are allowing men to compete in women's sports What has happened to the world

They will still need fights to grow into a pro.

I think that allowing pro's into the amateur reign is a desperate decision to try and get attention to the sport, much like the WSB.

Let pro's be pro's and amateurs amateurs.

But not because of that pro's would dominate the amateurs (the top in every division would also hardly be motivated to train and fight for "free") but because it's just another commercial drainage of the sport, AIBA trying to get their piece of the cake that WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO (who did i miss?) already are eating.

    I agree (and disagree).
I doubt that an Olympic gold in tennis would mean as much as a gold at the Wimbledon. Just as a golfer much rather would win the Masters or the Open. These sports are just into the OG because the Olympic games want to make money out of them. And making the Olympic gold into another alphabet title is the last thing boxing needs, I think. Especially considering the long tradition of the OG as an arena for emerging to show case themselves. Pro boxing does not need the OG.

No, I`ve never seen a gold medalist as skilled as Mayweather including Floyd himself, who didn`t win gold and was nowhere near the level he reached at his peak as a pro.

Pernell Whitaker won his gold, everything else was just a bonus for him. Lomachenko asked his father “What’s more difficult, Olympic Gold or a world title?” so his dream was to win Olympic gold. Again, you simply don’t know anything about boxing if you think it’s more difficult to get a world title (paper title) than an Olympic gold. Even people who don’t like amateur boxing generally know that it’s far more difficult to win a gold medal. Ask Roy Jones or Andre Ward what they think about that. Educate yourself.

You simply don’t understand boxing. Floyd had a different style as a pro, he couldn’t dominate equally skilled boxers as an amateur over short contests. That’s why he wasn’t a stand out like guys like Lomachenko, or even Andre Ward.
Floyd really benefited from the slower pace of the pros where he could use his ring iq to adapt and win the majority of the rounds, by spoiling the fight. That’s why he always lost rounds, and was forced to fight economically. He didn’t gain skills as a pro.

So you`re saying when Ali won his gold medal it was a tougher fight than when he fought Frazier for the world title? It was tougher for Leonard to win a gold medal than to unify the welter titles beating Hearns? By the way Hearns wasn`t that good at amateur, he wasn`t even a power puncher yet, Mike Tyson was beaten by Tyrell Biggs and went on to destroy him as a pro, Lewis and Bowe were pretty poor in their olympic clash and only weighed 200lbs each. Do you think AJ find his opponent in the final of the olympics tougher than he found Ruiz? Do you think the guy AJ beat in the final could beat Ruiz?

No, because as I explained and you didn’t understand, pro boxing at Ali’s time was what you think it is now. AJ found Savon and Cammarelle both at least as equally tough as Ruiz, and he should have lost both those bouts. And yes obviously those guys would outbox Ruiz as well.

The majority of them would be beaten by the top amateurs

There's a huge difference between your local teenage amateur boxers at the local gym, and the amateurs who do face pros

Amateurs these days who get into their nations squad train full time, have proper nutritionists, etc.. It's almost like they are pro..

These amateurs are the ones who face the pros in the world championships/olympics, and thesse also have a very good chance at beating many in a 3 round fight

I`m not talking about nutrition I am talking about better trainers who know more than amateur coaches.
