Yesterday I heard someone pose the question how can Clenelo have improved since the Floyd fight if he hasn't fought Floyd again?

Yes, if Golovkin dominates Derevyanchenko that would definitely force some people like me who think Golovkin is on the slide to reconsider. Personally I expect him to win a close but fair decision. If this one is close Golovkin gets it though.

Father time catches up with everyone. GGG is on the slide, still a world class operator but on the way down rather than up. Bernard Hopkins an exception to the rule but the older I get the more I realize he was on PED's

He is unquestionably on the slide. He might be stronger physically, but his speed has definitely dropped off and he no longer uses the wide punch selection that he once did.

Cool, so I guess 118-110 for Canelo in the first fight or the draw against Mayweather is something the three judges saw that the general consensus didn’t see right?

Because they know he lost and are just making excuses for him. Those excuses were coming in full force even before the first fight happened.

I think GGG did beat Canelo both times, but they were close fights, particularly the rematch!

I have no problem with anyone scoring it for Canelo and don't personally see it as a robbery

Canelo was the aggressor and landed better shots

I seem to remember him saying Canelo beat Golovkin a while back, before Golovkin was working with him. And I'm sure he said he thought Jacobs won against Golovkin. What a snake.

I agree I thought GGG won these 2 canelo fights as did most fans on this forum.

However pretty sure Hearn previously said prior to signing GGG that he thought Canelo edged the second fight

How many top athletes in sports in general are just as good at 37 as when they were 27? It's very very few, I mean people are amazed if a guy can even stay at the top level at 37, let alone expecting the guy to be in his prime. I don't buy it. Golovkin is still a good fighter but there's just no way he's in his prime right now. Not when you take into account that the guy has been boxing since a kid, has been in multiple wars already, not to mention he gets hit regularly even in easy fights.

I mean it's hard to quantify how much he declined, I personally think it's pretty apparent that he's not as quick and his power is not the same either but you could turn around and say it's different styles, match ups etc. So there's no point in arguing from that perspective, but just looking at all the facts I have a hard time seeing how he could still be the same GGG from 5-10 years ago.

I agree. And for that reason I'm confident that Golovkin doesn't dominate Derevyanchenko unless Sergey can't take his power. Fairly close decision I think

Looks a big guy but I expect Golovkin will lay some trap for him,he's quite sneaky like that.
