Tommy Morrison and Ray Mercer both arguably lost to Ross Puritty and Marion Wilson on the same night. Morrison was wasted in one round by Michael Bentt. Mercer was dominated by Jesse Ferguson and resorted to trying to bribe Ferguson during the fight to go down. The 90s George Foreman was beaten to a bloody pulp by Alex Stewart and went the distance with Axel Shulz and Crawford Grimsley. Mike Tyson was knocked out by James "Buster" Douglas. Evander Holyfield was nearly koed by Bert freaking Cooper and Holyfield was so OVERROIDED and swollen in his loss to Moorer he couldn't throw a punch at the end and thought his heart was exploding. Riddick Bowe was dominated twice by Andrew Golota (who didn't dominate anyone, let alone do it twice). Lewis was koed by a short right hand from Oliver McCall.

I get that boxers, once they retire, are often viewed in a better light. And their mediocre and awful performances are often forgotten.

But c'mon. Are you serious? ALL those guys had major flaws. Even the great ones.

You don' think Wilder would make the top 10 in the 90s? You don't think he's got championship level skills? He's held the WBC title for four years and made nine successful title defenses, for God's sake.

Laughably, Wilder has everything a guy like Tommy Morrison you're pumping up DID NOT - namely a strong chin, great endurance, incredible conditioning, excellent height and reach, fast hands and feet, unwavering confidence in himself, killer instinct, a right hand that ends fights in a second ... and a long, dominant reign as champ. Wilder isn't hyperventilating after the third round and eating shots hoping to land a hook before his chest implants fall out.

Wilder would do fine in that era.

And Jorge Luis Gonzalez lost to everyone. I have no idea what you were thinking when you typed that name.

Hmmm, I would guess Wilder has slightly better one punch power. Tyson’s left hook was devastating in his prime. Before his prison stint, he was like a force of nature. Wilder isn’t the most accurate puncher but he has incredible one punch power.

One more thing, Tyson was a finisher. If he had Fury in the kind of trouble Wilder had him in, Fury would not have finished the fight. Young Tyson was SAVAGE and would have been on him like a pitbull. Also, if someone invents a time machine and we can get these two guys in the ring, Wilder would not last three rounds with a young, prime Tyson. My prediction would be Tyson by homicide.

He'd have stopped everyone Wilder has fought.
Can't say the same the other way round.

And Tyson fought at World level from a very young age, and faced much, much better guys than Wilder has.

Wilder wouldn't be able to keep Holmes down for ten either.
Are you really trying to imply that Witherspoon has more one punch power than Tyson?
    :risas3::risas3::risas3:

Meanwhile in the real world Wilder is getting rocked by Ortiz, going 9 rounds with Spzilka and failing to drop Duhaupas...
Please don't ever compare Wilder to Hearns again. Wilder was and never will be on Tommy's level.
You say that like Tyson can't close the distance and like Wilder has the defence and chin necessary to take what a prime Mike Tyson has to offer.

Much much better résumé than Wilder tho.
No. No they definitely were not.

That wasn't even the shadow of Stiverne there I'm afraid. More like a 2 year inactive, fat and out of shape tub of lard, who was 5 years past his prime and was there to pick up a pay cheque. Yayyyyyy, way to go Wilder, you ATG can crusher.

Iron Mike Tyson, from the age of 19-24 would have killed most of Wilders title defence opponents and retired the rest. And for those idiots who say Wilder beats that Tyson, Tyson would have won by KO during his ring walk ffs.

Hell no. Mike would KO Deontay early. He's made for him with that horrible technique. He'd get countered into bolivian.

Punch for punch I think Tyson does and I dont think its that close.

When Wilder finally lands a loaded up right hand just right though, wouldnt surprise me if he punches harder.

So average, Tyson. Max power on a flush power punch, Id lean towards Wilder.

Wilder went the distance with Stiverne in shape .

Joyce stopped a more prepared Stiverne then Wilder did. Not only that they had sparred not long bf that fight which escalated it, so Stiverne was more prepared for Joyce then wilder both times ,even called him Robocop.Couldnt dent Bermane ? Looked like the Elephant man after what Joyce hit him with and felt so bad went to Stivernes dressing room and apologized to his family, his mom directly I believe and Stiverne .. Robo Cop busted him….UP ! :cop1:

Wilder's punches appear harder because he winds up and swings wildly like he's playing the arcade punching bag game for prizes. If Tyson wound up his punches like Wilder does, I think he would hit harder. But if they both throw combo punches from a normal standing position, Tyson hits harder every punch.

In that fight Wilder was very light, so 43.5 lbs between them, close.
But 6' 9" is not close to 7'. And Fury is clearly not 6' 9".
Wilder stopped lesser competition. And sincer Tyson had more fights & much more after his prime than Wilder, who is still in his, that is an unfair comparison.
Which anyway does not prove who hits harder.

Tyson is much more skilled. Including more volume & harder punches in most shots.

But who hits the hardest for any single blows, that is Wilder with the right hand/windmill.
