Hitting and then holding, which results in the ref calling break is allowed. Holding/clinching is a part of boxing. That's why the ref calls break because that is also a part of boxing. What did you think Ward's opponents should do? Complain and moan to the press that 'Daddy Ward punched me and then clinched me and I couldn't him back back because ref was calling break'... Not every hit from Ward resulted in holding or clinching also.

Look, its the same with Mayweather too. Both Ward and Mayweather had such high boxing I.Q.'s that they both decided 'you know what, I'mma hit and not get hit'. that's what I call boxing smarts.

Kovalev and Froch can say what they like, but at then end of the day they couldn't do much at all in the ring and are still bitter years later.

I mean we could go round in circles arguing this at gone 6am in the morning now Boon.

But why don't we just get back to my original point.

Did Ward do the things I said he did? Yes undeniably.

Did this clearly intentional strategy of his enable him to reduce the number of punch connects of his opponents? Again, undeniably.

If you're able to reduce your opponent's punch connects by using these tactics which yes are illegal do you take more or less damage than if you don't employ this strategy?

Pfft...Kovalev dropped and beat the guy in his own country. Froch lost fair and square.

Ward may have hit him low a few times, but it was not enough to get a point deduction as for most of them, they were caused by Kovalev himself, especially the last few.

It is similar to people when they duck their head low enough to be clipped on the back of the neck/head. You know ward and Mayweather never allowed their opponents to hi them there. Kovalev should have been smarter. Ward was smart enough to use every trick in the book to win, he just had incredibly more fight and skill in him than Kovalev (who mentally quit as his body was failing).

Ward was so smart and clever to ensure that Kovalev hot him as few times as possible. it was up to Kovalev to find ways to land, not make 1000 excuses afterwards (after he lost).

Uh...speaking of technically sound, tough, heavy-handed but not explosive KO artist Ukrainian middleweights...

Did anybody realize Maksim Bursak fought today? :dunno (err..yesterday. Saturday. A few hours before GGG vs. Derevyanchenko...)

Berinchyk undercard, against some Georgian tomato can. Wtf!

2½ years of his rapidly-ever prime, since GRS, down the drain. Just utterly wasted. He may as well be retired, honestly, if he's just going to do this crap.

This is getting extremely tedious now Boon and it's an ungodly hour and I don't want to start getting ratty and being rude. There's nothing to debate here because the original point I was making which you decided to take issue with was true. Just let it go now please.
