And it shouldn't be very surprising. Couple of reasons why Derevyanchenko beats GGG imo.

    1. Twe two wars against Canelo and the punishment he took, more so in the second fight. I don't think GGG will ever be the same and against a good opponent like Derevyanchenko it will show.

    2. Banks being in GGG's corner, while Rozier being in Derevyanchenko's and going a second time against GGG after Jacobs-GGG in which Jacobs did well in a close fight.

    3. GGG not being that hungry as he was a few years ago when chasing the big money. Now he has signed 100 mil contract with DAZN.

    4. GGG not motivated by the IBF belt after being unified champ for many years and thinking about Canelo trilogy, while Derevyanchenko's dream is to become middleweight champion after the SD loss against Jacobs.

    5. Derevyanchenko wanting to prove something to Rozier after he picked to be in Jacobs' corner and after the knockdown Derevyanchenko still managed to make it a real close fight, winning 114-113 on one of the scorecards. Also wanting to show Rozier that he can beat GGG when Jacobs couldn't get the job done with Rozier in his corner.

    6. Canelo had success with pressuring and going after GGG, and outlanded GGG with power punches in their second fight, landing 40 more body punches. Derevyanchenko a natural middleweight can win this going to the body, fighting Mexican style and making it an inside war.

I am not going to go as far as to say he WILL beat GGG, but I agree he has a decent shot. Fair points you have made, but still not enough to make GGG the underdog here.

Point 3 is the most pressing one for me. I think GGG still wins but him losing wouldn't be the biggest upset in the world. Plus Derev is good.

A win over Derevyenchenko would be nice for GGGs legacy especially if he’s dominant

Derevy is flat-footed and I don't think that is the right style to beat GGG, especially since I think Derevy has average power. GGG will stop him mid-rounds IMO.

I think Dervyanchenko's power is above average, but his chin isn't great. I would definitely favour GGG (prime version) to stop him, but we don't know how diminished GGG is now. Derevyanchenko throws good combinations and his stamina is much better than Alvarez' one. So IF Golovkin is as far from his prime as I think he might be, Derevyanchenko has a chance to beat him.

That's a decent post by the thread starter. I agree its possible Derevyanchenko could beat GGG. All things being equal I think Golovkin has the stylistic advantage and should win, possibly by KO. However, that's a good argument about their respective mental states. If GGG is mentally checking out, a guy like SD can mess you up big time. Should be a fun, all-action fight imho. I suspect Golovkin won't want to leave it in the judges hands given the crappy decisions he's recently got.

The main question is: WILL GGG be able to hurt Derevyanchenko. YES, then there is no way he's losing. NO, then i can see Derevyanchenko causing massive trouble here. Interesting fight. Still, i'm picking GGG. I wasn't impressed by Derevyanchenko neither vs. Jacobs nor vs. Culcay.

I don't think his power is that great. He was bouncing shots off of Jack for 12 rounds and never seriously hurt him. I don't see his path to victory against GGG. He's not going to stop him and he's not going to outbox him. I think Derevy is in for a pasting but ofc I could be wrong.

Too bad that Derevyanchenko is a slow starter. He should have started with the pressure, not wait to get cut and taking the fight to him from the beginning, not moving around.
