That was just dumb, also when the mexican dyke was interviewing Banks in the corner. When she asked him if he was surprised how tough a fight it was. He basically said that he wasn't surprised because GGG has only fought old bums.....lol!
Seriously, this is gonna sound stupid but he needs to sack Banks. Banks does not talk like somebody who is ' all in ' with his fighter.
Two times on the bounce with trainers, Sanchez wasn't loyal after the Canelo fight and now Banks imo is showing the same traits..Banks needs to go if GGG plans on carrying on !
A very good topic. I can't see the value banks is bringing ? was it just to save money over Sanchez? I remember watching him when Vlad lost to Fury, he was clueless then!
Banks rep in the industry is better than his results indicate. I'm nothing more than a fan, but I don't see him as having much talent at training at the top level. Riding Manny's coattails at Kronk basically gave him a fast pass to training at a level over his head. Maybe he'll get there one day, but he's not there now. I didn't like the hire with Wlad but I got it given the history, and I never liked it with GGG. Nothing has changed.
Banks seemed extremely bored at the prospect of training the best 160lb fighter in the world, is what it seemed to me. Maybe he's just super chill, but in that case maybe he needs to get out of the freezer and wake up a bit.
There's only so much a trainer can teach a veteran fighter like GGG. You can't throw the blame on him.
You dont think McGirt has been great for Kovalev? Personally, I dont think there is a Vetter trainer out there for him.
If Banks' advice in training canp was anywhere near as bad as his (non-existent) advice during the fight, than Jonathon Banks may well be the single worst trainer in boxing today.
Exactly this. Not gonna reinvent himself at 37, he fights how he fights, the slippage is aging and natural deterioration.
