Very enlightening indeed. CS , think you ought to put the original assertion up ...wasn't so far off the mark after all!
Repost from the RBR. Round 1 Golovkin 10-8 Round 2 Golovkin 10-9 Round 3 Derevyanchenko 10-9, very close * Round 4 Derevyanchenko 10-9, very close * Round 5 Derevyanchenko 10-9, close Round 6 Golovkin 10-9 Round 7 Golovkin 10-9, close Round 8 Golovkin 10-9, close * Round 9 Golovkin 10-9, close Round 10 Golovkin 10-9, very close Round 11 Golovkin 10-9 Round 12 Golovkin 10-9 117-110 Golovkin 116-111 or 115-112 GGG are fine as well. I switched the 3rd and 4th to Derevyanchenko. But I also switched the 8th to Golovkin. I came damn close to giving it to him the first time around. The 10th stays as is. Sergey did some great work early on, but GGG came back to tag him repeatedly to the head and clean to edge it on my card. But it was razor close The only two debatable toss up rounds are the 8th and 10th. But no way to Derevyanchenko win more than 5 rounds of this fight. Sorry. As per usual, GGG's jab made the difference. Sergey's wasn't landing clean or flush very often, and his body shots while many got through, most were being blocked by GGG's elbows. GGG's style has become very Mayweather like in his old age. Let me finish. Many seem to have a hard time scoring Mayweather matches because he's low output and his opponents appear to be whirling dervishes of activity. Well GGG in his old age is focusing on defense and accuracy, so he''ll stand there, let his opponent tee off on his arms and block gloves to the head with his gloves, then fire back a few rights or a jab. His opponent gets through with a few partially blocked shots, but GGG gets through with a handful of hard clean flush bombs. Therein where lies to quandary for a lot of people scoring his matches lately. He does just enough to nick most rounds, but look bad doing it. It's not pleasing and in no way does he look dominant, but he's getting the job done. But the fans are left scratching their heads and perplexed, to quote Max, he's not winning the "story of the match." But he still ends up being the sharper better fighter ultimately.
Boxing should not be a difficult sport to judge. It is we the fans who make it look worse than it is in terms of decisions. Contemplate the following: Crowds react to anything, even if nothing is landing. Commentators are very low quality today and are biased, shills or have pet hates and pet loves. Fans watching on TV just pick up lines from commentators and run with it. Fans also when seeing something they are not used to automatically think that also means the other guy is winning. Say for example GGG is winning every round and then in round 7 SD lands 5 or 6 punches but GGG still has his usual round, some people think this gives SD the round. That is wrong. This is just an example. Also, if a fighter lands a big hay-maker but is also hit by 10 or 15 crisp accurate shot in that round, he still loses that round. People are too involved, you just need to judge every round individually by what is landed. Just that alone should be enough to score rounds. As I said in the RBR as the decision was announced this was the "Right decision". I am glad the judges got it right. I also admire that you posted your RBR even though the vast majority had it completely different.
As per usual some folk don't know what they are watching with Golovkin, his defence is very good.Same with Jacob's fight in real time the flashy stuff looks great but in reality that's all it is. Having seen this I'm confused as to what all the fuss was about last night.
What a noble effort though from DV.I would love him to fight Charlo or Andrade or even a rematch with Golovkin. Goes without saying he needs to cut out those early aberrations. And 're Golovkins jab, those on here who question his snap, might wanna ask DV about it as I saw DV rocked by said jab a few times. Never saw DV against Jacobs, how did he look in that fight?
Thank you for the video, not sure if it covers all key moments but it shows a lot of subtle but great defence work by GGG and how much SD actually landed on gloves and elbows...
Like I thought.. most of these punches were being blocked by GGG, but Mora jizzing over everything Sergei did make it seem like he was landing way more than he actually was. It was still a close fight that could have gone either way though.
How do i know this video wasn't edited to make GG look good? Its only 15 mins long but if you slowed the whole fight down to that speed it would probably last close to 70mins. The rounds were mostly set at a good pace with Chenko doing a lot of good work so im inclined to believe the creator made a bogus biased video
the only thing that could go either way is your sexual orientation, this was a fair Golovkin victory. Chenko was close but no cigar.
