Shot might not be the right word. Hes lost a step. Lost some snap in his punches. He gets hit more and relies more on his ability to soak up shots. Not a good trend. I'm a long time boxing fan more than a fan of any particular fighter. I hate to see him or any other fighter end up like Ali, Toney, RJJ and so many others.
He probably needs time off and to take care of his mandatory next. Guy is 21-0, feather fisted, shouldn’t be too hard a fight.
He's not shot, but definetly past his best. When haters and fanboys go back and forth on things like this, the answer always somewhere in the middle. Part of the reason why he looks more beatable is the level of opposition getting better, the other part is him aging. (To make an accurate comparison, Dominic Wade and Steve Rolls are similar level of opponents, but he was visibly better against Wade)
I dont think he is shot. And yeah, he was always slow, but the only reason why he doesnt look impressive as in the past is cuz he is fighting really top guys: Jacobs, Canelo, SD and they are MUCH better than a ****ing Geale. Stevens, Macklin etc... I like GGG, but those fights showed his true level, he isnt some monster, who is way above in skill and power than ANY other fighter. He is better than most, but he isnt the best.
If Gennady was a 9 out of 10 say 6 years ago, I'd rate him about 7 today . Some of the comments are spot on about his snap
