I've responded to many posts in this thread productively. You're in a vocal minority who don't seem to understand the point. That's fine. Just don't expect me to fix your reading comprehension or spoonfeed you anything.
If you actually feel that your responses were in any way "productive," then you've answered my question.
Lol...help me understand? JT’s post (the one that was to long for you to read!), was about the top 100 boxers (hint....not close lol), and not relevant (and since it was to long to read, did you find someone to read it to you?). Have fun with the rest of your thread...presuming you actually read it
I addressed and questioned the exact two examples he thrust forth as "extremes" and he couldn't actually refute either. He probably doesn't even know who the Kid is let alone watched him. Not much point wasting time after that lol
Compare the 70s heavyweight scene to today. Or hell, just compare Ali, Louis, and Holmes to any of the heavyweights today.
In fairness those are real high points of a long period of time. You could equally compare the heavyweights of now to the late 20's, or compare the current claimants with Hart, Savold and Moorer.
Way to many frigging champion s, that's where imo we started to lose fans of the sport. Maybe wrong but that's how I see it. Could handle maybe WBC And WBA but after that it was a slippery slope.
This is easy to sympathize with. But sometimes the belts are on target, to me Riddick Bowe was heavyweight champion of the world (best fighter) when he beat Hide for the WBO.
Being the best does NOT equate to being the champion. Usually it leads to being champion however. Bowe beating Hide was just one contender fighting another.
The issue is the 4-5 champions and 40-50 challengers. Anytime you have more of any one thing it becomes cheaper. Today we have 4-5 times the champions and challengers. The talent pool is hopelessly watered down. It’s much easier to be a challenger or a champion.
Perfectly valid points imo. Still, to me Bowe was the best out there right into the Rodriguez fight, and that's the main reason Foreman (lineal champ at the time) hollered he was the real champion of the world. Unfortunately, it all crashed down (with maniacal swiftness) with the Golota fight.
Because it's gotten boring. The action is just not there. Defense, overall has gotten better. That may be part off the problem. The hunger, heart, power and conditioning seems to have regressed.
