Why people in USA love athletic freaks much more than good boxers?

Jermall Charlo is 29 and an undefeated two-division world champion. He's fought three world champions and beaten them all. He's got nearly twice as many fights Michael Hunter, who, at 31, hasn't won anything or beaten anyone.

I have no idea why this board is so hung up on Michael Hunter. Hunter's dad was a gatekeeper in the division. His son appears to be one, too.

The only thing I can figure is Hunter looked good for a couple rounds against Usyk, who is Ukrainian, but by the fourth round it was pretty much a whitewash. And since Usyk lost a round or two, the Ukrainians and Usyk fans now think Hunter has to be something special, too.

Hunter is just "a guy." If he wanted to make some noise in the division, he wouldn't have bailed on the heavyweights after he turned pro and tried to win a belt at cruiser. That's the surest sign a guy doesn't think he's good enough to win at heavyweight.

Hunter tried to be a "weight bully," and he failed at that, too.

Jermall Charlo is a solid, well-schooled, experienced two-division champ. In comparison to Charlo, Hunter isn't anything.

It's about winning fights at the end of the day.

 

Hate to be this guy but a lot of it has to do with race. Fans are always drooling over athletes who are black and label them as "athletic" while the white guy gets labeled as "smart, technical, hard work". It's all stupid.

Deontay Wilder gets called an athlete and the guy is a horrible athlete. He hits hard, that's it. Does not have great foot work, or speed, or movement, or anything. But fans see that he is ripped and black so they call him "athletic".

 

Because they are afraid of US nation getting connected with the picture of fat americans.
