May be i just don't think very much of anyone on that list. You can clean out divisions all day long but if it's filled with no hope wonders, who really cares?
The best fighter in the world is the guy who can beat everyone. Not the guy who can't beat anyone who weighs more than him. That's why the heavyweight division was historically held in higher regard. Because the best heavyweight was the guy who could beat everybody. People on message boards who tend to be adamant about pound-for-pound ratings are people who don't tend to go to a lot of fights in person. If you see these smaller weight champs in person, they're tiny humans. Many are smaller than an average sized adult. It can be jarring. You don't expect it. They might be 5'7" and look super tall and muscular on TV next to another guy who is 126 pounds, then you see them in person and they are smaller than many teenage girls. But they all fill the same amount of screen, when watching on a computer or television, as the larger fighters do, so people hold the smaller fighters in the same or higher regard. If you see a reigning world heavyweight champion in person, you tend to get it. When I saw Lennox Lewis enter the arena when he was the world champion in my mind I went "there is the guy who can beat everyone in the world." When I saw Erik Morales, I thought, boy, he's little. When Floyd Mayweather walked on stage with Maria Sharapova, people laughed. The hot tennis player was bigger and heavier than the guy everyone was saying was Pound-for-Pound the best fighter in the world. At that point, Serena Williams could've probably beaten Floyd's butt in a fight. The pound-for-pound debates are just fantasy stuff. This content is protected
And Wlad could beat all of them. That's why pound-for-pound is all make believe. Now that he's back at heavyweight, we'll see about Usyk. But I'm guessing Usyk didn't scamper down to cruiserweight after a couple pro fights and go after titles down there because he was confident he could beat anyone in the world. If he believed he could beat anyone, he'd have focused on the heavyweight division from the get go.
I’m done, that’s an ignore list entry right here. You clearly post to attract attention, no love for the sport at all.
P4P is to determine the most SKILLED fighter, not who would literally beat everyone up right there and then. How come **** like this needs to be spelled out for you?
Because his victories arguably or certainly combine to lesser than Canelo, Lomachenko, Ioka, etc. He is definitely toward the tippy top and everybody has him up there so if you think he's underrated, I don't see that.
* First thing you have to understand when it comes to Dubblequim is he's a certified BS artist and a compulsive liar who just makes it up on the fly and he's full of more poop than the Ganges Let's revisit what he's said here Firstly This is a lie. Both Usyk and Porter were 19 (albeit Usyk is 10 months older than Porter) ''This dude (his son Shawn) had won over 100 amateur boxing matches by the time he was 14 years of age'' --Kenny Porter Porter fought Usyk when he was 19 so he'd obviously had a ton more fights between then and fighting Usyk So once again Dubblequim is lying through his teeth Porter fought in the Junior Olympics in 2003 which is obviously an international tournament and the Pan American Cadet championships in 2004 which again is an international tournament and these are just the international tournaments he fought in that we know about. So that's another blatant lie Poor widdle inexperienced Porter who only took up boxing when he was 4 y/o, started competing at the age of 8 and had won over 100 amateur fights by the time he was 14 also fought in the World Junior Championships a couple of months prior to facing Usyk who didn't even walk into a gym until he was 15 y/o and from what I can gather from his record didn't even start competing until 2005 ie. a year before he fought Porter And Porter didn't just compete in the Junior Olympics he won a silver medal. Amir Khan also won silver that year too Then he said Porter had no significant wins prior to facing Usyk Porter fought Demetrius Andrade x 2 when he was 16 and 18 y/o respectively and he describes them as some of the best fights you could ever see in amateur boxing. He's 1-1 against Boo Boo This is the fight he lost to Boo Boo and it was in another international tournament 2004-07-08 70kg Demetrius Andrade USA Shawn Porter USA 9:8 This content is protected He also fought Danny Jacobs like 6 or 7 times in the amateurs too and I'm guessing most of those bouts were likely before Porter fought Usyk albeit they did fight each other after he fought Usyk too. Jacobs won all but one of their battles but this is what he had to say about sharing a ring with Porter This content is protected In fact, here's one of their encounters from the same year Porter fought Usyk. Eight months before Porter fought Usyk in fact and Porter also beat Edwin Rodriguez in the semi-final of those National championships It was a real good scrap. I've timestamped it at the point where Porter drops Jacobs like a sack of lead potatoes flat on his back and nearly KOs him lol This content is protected But Usyk won bronze in the European championships, doe Refer back to *
Its still make believe status. There is no real way to compare heavyweight and fly weight skills while taking away of their physical traits fairly so you can get to pure skill category
Of course it’s make believe in a way, but you can compare skills of fighters in different weight divisions. Elephant in the room type of example - Lomachenko is light years ahead of AJ in skills department. He’s ahead of the whole current HW division. P4P he’s a better fighter than them.
Guys from lighterweights are always considered being light years ahead in skills in p4p and they constantly edges top heavyweights. But big 250lbs heavyweight cant look as smooth as lighter weights. Its very hard thing to rank objectively I would actually prefer boxrecs take on it because their point based computer system is pretty good for fantasy rankings like that. edit. Looks like Usyk is not number 1 in that either. That style of listing by achievments would make Canello number 1 p4p
