In his latest interview discussing this it came down to wanting a big HW. The whole point of moving up to HW is to see how Usyk will fair against much larger men according to Fast Car. Dawejko should probably be a CW, plus he mentioned that Joey's style meshed with Usyk's wouldn't make for a very entertaining fight.
People on here crack me up. When you need a fighter on a weeks notice You put the call out to see who will take the fight. You then send contracts to all of those who said they will take it. You then review those options with your client and choose the best candidate. From Usyks and his teams point of view he wants to fight a big heavyweight to get used to the size, he is taking a fight on a weeks notice having not prepared for the chosen fighter, he has a mandatory status on the line which in turn brings a shot at the belt and millions of dollars in his next fight. does anyone blame them for not fighting Dawejko and does anyone truthfully believe Usyk the cruiserweight undisputed avoided him. this is standard practice to send out contracts and to be honest I think it’s Dawejko angling to get a fight on a Matchroom bill coming up. My guess is we see Dawejko vs Whyte in December
Both the IBF and WBO mandatory have been called and as you can’t fight two guys at once one of the belts will be vacated. PBC does not recognise the WBO belt and therefore if Ruiz wins he will drop that. if AJ wins Hearn will try one last time to make the Wilder fight as it will be last chance to fight for all the belts before one has to be vacated. My guess is that AJ will fight Usyk and Pulev will fight Fury for the other belt.
I mean, i feel bad for Dawejko is true, but from a fans perspective, does it really matter? Is Dawejko on a weeks notice any more of a threat than Witherspoon on a weeks notice?
Looks like that puny Usyk lost his bottle when he saw the huge behemoth Dawejko's gigantic biceps. He was probably getting flashbacks of the bodybuilder Joshua being laid out cold by this ferocious brute in sparring. Or maybe this European fighter doesn't want to suffer a similiar fate to another gluttonous blob like American on its sacred soil. lol
This is the part sounding envious. "Usyk's supposed to be elite, right? He's supposed to be the Pound-for-Pound #1, right? He's supposed to be the #1 heavyweight, right? What a joke!" "Usyk showed his colors when he turned pro at heavyweight and decided it would be easier and safer to fight at cruiser. This just makes all the more clearer." I totally understand the frustrations with DAZN in the heavyweight ranks. The Joshua fight was really entertaining though, yeah he lost and quit, but are you telling me you didn't have fun watching that? Look my entire point, and the reason for quoting you in the first place is bashing fighters for circumstances that are more than likely out of their realm of control is not cool. There are very few fighters in the sport who can dictate to their respective promoters on how business gets done, very few. This is a mess of a situation where Usyk gets hurt, postponed and has surgery, the replacement fighter gets popped with PED's, and now we get Chazz. I can almost guarantee you that Usyk himself had zero to do with the booking of Witherspoon, so lets keep from throwing mud on people's names who don't deserve it. This sport has enough negativity in it, lets try to be a bit more supportive of the guys who participate in it, and keep the bashing where it belongs, on the heads of the slime ball promoters.
Hearn said Dawejko was in talks but Hearn wanted somone taller than Usyk on his HW debut. I have no issue with that. The IBF mandatory will get called before his WBO so he will have another fight or two before hia title shot. Let be hineet if Ruiz beats AJ againnthere no way in hell Haymon allows Ruiz to fight Usyk or the winner of Wilder vs Ortiz 2 for that matter. I reckon they will put Usyk against one of the following next: Parker Chisora vs Price winner
