It's good to see BJS going after the big fights and fighting on the big cards, something special is happening here.
Fighting in a empty arena against a lad no one has ever heard of before 1,000s of kids turn up to see two twats from YouTube make their pro boxing debuts. Stuff dreams are made of, really is.
The IBO belt has been in bigger fights than the WBO at Super Middleweight and I don't see that changing any time soon, sadly. I really don't know what Saunders is doing staying at that weight, Plant and Benavidaz won't bother with him, Smith would beat him and I can't see him wanting to get in with Eubank jnr again, who could realistically beat him these days. Biggest waster of the last decade, an embarrassment to the sport.
Why are you guys giving BJS a hard time? it is his first fight with MR it was always going to be a warm up.
When he signed we were told that there would be no warm up, it would be straight in with a top 15 opponent. The criticism is for Billy Joe, not Matchroom. When he was with Warren I said he was giving him the runaround and had done well by him but constantly let down. Bottom line is Saunders is a messer.
So, what are people thinking here then, do they believe Eddie Hearn has sat him down and said... EH “Got you a shortlist here mate, GGG, Smith, Benavidez, Canelo all want a shot at you at 168 and Andrade wants you next at 160”. BJS “Nah mate, I don’t want any of them, get me a tin can” EH “But Billy, these guys have agreed to fight you, you could make seriously huge money” BJS “It’s an unknown Argie or i’m off”. Seriously, I know BJS isn’t exactly mr popular on here but do we really think that it’s him that’s dug this opponent out in spite of what Hearn wants? It’s Eddie Hearn who’s calling the shots here, lads. He’s the big man now guiding his career to take him to the next level.
no I reckon they’ve mutually agreed a complete walk over opponent on a massive (will be one of the biggest grossing) card for a big pay day will be a good way to start off his Matchroom career.
I think it's 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other. BJS should be desperate for a big fight, let's face it, he's a two weight World champion, 30 years old and he's not really had a big fight, the one time he could have had one he royally messed up.
BJS is all about the money. Doesnt care if he's fighting on two YouTubers main event. If he means he gets paid more for an easy defence, he will do it. If it means potentially more £££ notes in the future against an opppnent he will do it. He will have a big fight, when its going to generate him big money. He will take the biggest paying fight available at the time for risk/reward.
