I really dont think it helps the amount of smoke the Northern Irish fighters blow up each others arses He clearly had a ludicrously inflated view of his ability and all his mates around him pushed his narrative. I genuinely like Carl frampton but the rest I struggle with big time
Now you're talking nonsense, they did have a same day weight check yesterday and Barnes was heavier than the opponent
There has to be a limited in ring weigh disparity. The only weight that matters is in ring weight. Harris IS bigger than Barnes. Pretty much everyone is. Size bully’s are a menace.
J-Roc Williams showed how you deal with size bullies when he took out Hurd. It can be done. To just put the win down to Harris’s size is naive. Even as the bigger man he had the faster hands.
Barnes is a pretty tidy little boxer but he doesn't have the power to keep people off or the resistance to absorb whats coming back at him. Hard to think of a good amateur who was less suited to the pro game than Barnes.
In the 90's we had a 2 time Olympic bronze medalist and multi WC medalist at HW called Vanderlyde. He could have made some money in the pro game, but he knew he would be mauled by everyone who was anyone in the division at the time. So he decided not to go pro and become a public speaker instead. He knew his limitations and walked away.
He is yet another on the long list of overhyped bums from the Isles. In interviews, he acts as though he is future world champion. How delusional can you get. He should drop 2 weight divisions. I don't think he can win any fights unless he is allowed to fight minimum weights without having to make weight himself. It is time for him to leave boxing, and we should make Inoue Vs Barnes to facilitate this process.
Barnes should just fight Sunny Edwards. Still would garner interest. And he has a better chance against Sunny because he’s not that big, although I’d still favour Sunny. If he wanted another fight that would be my shout. Would be decent money because it would top the bill on a regular BT card.
If that was Barnes last fight he certainly went out in a blaze of glory! The way to go ....proper little warrior.
I really hope that he calls it a day. He was brave, particularly as he looked like he knew it was all up even before the fight started. He gave it a good go and came up short. No shame in that, now time for him to hang up the gloves and find another role.
