I seen somebody put this one on YouTube recently. High quality fight. Rose looks like he’s set to outclass him early running out into a lead prettt much 5-0 but Rudkin adapts then starts to outfight the champion getting the fight to about level after 10 or 12. Great fighting down the stretch with Rudkin finishing stronger.

It could have gone the other way. Really, really close. I personally had Rudkin by a point. Laughably one judge had it 15-0 which really invalidates his card.

I had Rose ahead by a couple rounds but it's a good close fight. Excellent display from both.

Yes, really close fight marred by a referee Ray Mitchell's scorecard 75-60. Even referee Vic Patrick's is off the mark at 70-63, he had a few 5-3s on his scorecard for some reason. Judge Ron Walden 70-69 to me dad was probably closest to the truth whatever way you see it. Dad thought he'd done enough and I'm sure Lionel thought he'd done enough. Three Australian judges in Australia against an Australian national hero, it was always going to be tough to get a decision. https://www.britishpathe.com/video/...MING-WORLD-TITLE-FIGHT-WITH/query/alan+rudkin
