Against a good HW, Usyk will run out of steam protecting his chin and will get stopped in the later rds. Beterbiev had him badly hurt in the amateurs, even with the headgear, and would have stopped him in a few more rds. There's only so much "supplements" can do for you.
No, Beterbiev never hurt him to the head. He hurt him to the body though. I haven't seen Deontay Wilder throwing a single body punch in his career, AJ sometimes goes to the body well but has terrible stamina, Ruiz and Whyte can be effictive with body punches but are too slow on their feet to be effective in cutting the ring against Usyk.
Tyson Fury has done the same thing for years. Outbox and score a points victory. That would be an interesting fight Fury vs Usyk both great boxers. One has size the other speed
Beterbiev was walking him down/catching him the further the rds went. One or two more rds and he would have been out of there. When you don't have the punch to get respect, you're in trouble.
Usyks class, the only person who can beat him on points is Fury.. And the rest will need a KO to beat him.. He's skill are fair superior to everyone at heavyweight. He is most definitely too small for heavyweight but there's none of the champions that will want to fight him. Are you telling me he doesn't slap the belly off Ruiz ? I'd go as far as saying Ruiz barely lands a few shots on him
Early in the fight it struck me that Usyk vs Ruiz is the HW fight I'd most like to see. If Usyk stood in front of Ruiz for as long as he did with Witherspoon, Fat Andy would let those fast 4 to 6 punch combo's fly. ....but maybe Usyk stood in front of Witherspoon b/c he knew he could. Style wise it could be interesting. Volume puncher vs Combination puncher.
I can see from your point of view too. I just can't see Usyk standing there, I think he moves around him and Andy plods forward taking shots all night
Wilder dropped Ortiz with short hooks and finished him off with a short uppercut in close. This notion he needs distance to land is false , peddled by one poster , then parroted by others. Wilder is deadly at every range.
This would be a very intriguing fight actually. Can see Ruiz having a lot of success early on, before Usyk adapts and starts picking him off with sharp shots through Ruiz's guard. Fight might resemble the Hunter or even the Briedis bout if Ruiz doesn't gas from defending against Usyk's relentless attacks.
Your convinced that he's the best heavyweight on the planet but isn't sure if he's ready for a title shot? Lol.
