More truth to this than not. More time sparring or working on cardio would help.

I agree, he needs to work on cardio, plenty of skipping and long runs. We would do lampposts sprint jog sprint jog, really see the difference.

They thought Ruiz was done after the knockdown and went for it but they can’t make that mistake again.

I’d also like to see AJ be more elusive but I think it’s a bit late in the day to be working on that

Keep it long and Ruiz on the end of the jab, don’t commit too early, the longer the fight goes the more openings will come

Ruiz has to set himself to throw, I would focus on lateral movement and timing/offsetting ruizs attacks with a jab. No brawling on the inside and using uppercuts when ruiz tries to come in.

The first fight was the lesson in and of itself. What he's learned the hard way is to not get careless and to respect your opponent. Still should be a comfortable win for AJ as long as he remembers that, and I don't think he'll ever forget it.

Spence used the straight left to the body to against Porter as he came forward, AJ`s straight right to the body might work well keeping Ruiz from walking him down too.

If Fury fought Ruiz the way he fought Wallin he`d be destroyed, Ruiz would beat Wallin far more convincingly than Fury did.

No Ruiz has great head movent, he moves his head in sinc with his guard, it`s called an active guard, his hands move up and down in front of his face and he moves his head according to where his gloves are, AJ found it very hard to find an opening.

What? If anything Ruiz is extremely overrated on here.

Teach him how to fight. Not box. If that makes sense. Needs to stand his ground and push ruiz back at the right times. Joshuas a big strong unit that can punch. But nowadays spends his time trying to box on the backfoot. Joshua never got to where he is by boxing. Needs to get tough sparring in and learn how to dog fight.

Push ruiz back. The problem joshua had was ruiz was countering with combos cause joshua was throwing singles. He needs to put his punches together. I,d be surprised if ruiz can counters that. Its a case of mixing up the boxing on the backfoot....trying to put ruiz in positions he wants him in....then comitt to an attack. Joshuas confused with his current tactics. They,ve been scared since the klitchko fight. Its been about safety first which is sensible but unless your an exceptional judge of distance like klitchko was or even fury it,ll come up short. He needs to go in and try light ruiz up. Throwing single shots will get him in trouble against ruiz,s faster hands.

“Everybody has a plan....” ...you know the rest.

AJ’s best defence has always been his offence but somewhere down the road (khem WK, khem barely got by, khem) he decided to let his opponents show off their skillset while he pot shots. Not a great idea against Ruiz. He needs to stand his ground and use his size properly.
I’d work on distance control, constant, relentless and accurate jab. He knows how to punch and put combos together but needs to understand when throw them better too.

Regardless, he needs a better plan than his previous one ;)
