I’m too busy to really look into it, but the five spot could probably go a lot of ways:

    Bungu
    Ledwaba
    Thobela
    Agbeko
    Quartey
Kid Akeem was good but was cut short
    Cassius Baloyi

If you’re going to throw heavyweights like Gerrie Coetzee in you might as well throw Anthony Joshua, Herbie Hide and Henry Akinwande in there as well.

D1ck Tiger defeated better opposition than Azumah Nelson, in particular at their best weight class.

For example Fullmer/Henry Hank/Giardello /Carter/ Downes at 160 is a better win than Wilfredo Gomez at 126 (who is better as a 122) or Fenech at 130.

At the end day both Tiger and Nelson are All time Greats. From West Africa

Oops, you’re right. Well-spotted. My mistake.
Just thought that if you were going to throw Gerrie Coetzee name in there, then you might as well consider Joshua, Akinwande and Hide as well since they were, at least statistically more successful in title fights than Cortzee but like Unforgiven pointed out above, Joshua and Akinwande, while spending a time growing up in their parents Nigerian homeland, were actually both born in England before going to Nigeria as infants so do not qualify for this thread as African born fighters. Apologies. Must have been drunk.:godsdrink0nw:
