AJ's KD over Ruiz seemed so easy to replicate in theory. Well timed. Tough to tell if Ruiz fought hurt or was it like a flash knockdown? Even if AJ finds success boxing, it seems inevitable at some point Ruiz will force him to fight.
If he really was that slim as he looks on the picture, then a) it's unlikely he did it in any natural/legal manner, in such a small timeframe and after initially gaining weight. b) He would be a Cruiserweight or very near 200 at least, and that wouldn't favor him in any way.
As long as it's done correctly it should not impede him. I suspect a lot of that fat was water/beer weight too.
I'm telling you guys, Ruiz is gonna get stopped. It may be a slow cagey affair, but in the middle rounds AJ will land something and it will be the end.
There's not a hope in hell hes slimmer. We seen him at the presser 3 weeks ago and he was heavier than he ever was. Loads of bodyfat but still a tremendous fighter with great handspeed. I love boxing
I’d say it was a flash knockdown. Joshua’s strength, coupled with decent technique means he’s able to generate power without leverage. Unfortunately, without speed it’s much less effective, but his strength will still take opponents down in the pocket. He caught Takam with something similar. Personally it’s not something Joshua should look to replicate in this fight though, as while Joshua is very good in the pocket, that’s Ruiz’s bread and butter. He needs to fight long, and catch Ruiz coming in, reset, and start again.
I think he can drop Ruiz again. But I can't envision him being hurt to the point he covers up & waits for an opening. And because of AJ's height, I can see Ruiz landing on the side & top of that skull time and time again. I think AJ can take a few punches to the nose or face maybe chin too, but he proved disastrous to equilibrium shots.
A couple of photos that have emerged show a much lighter looking Ruiz. If these photos accurately depict his current weight I think we're going to see the best Ruiz ever come fight night! With seven weeks to go, he still has plenty of time to adjust to his new weight.
Hearns makes a lot of money. He doesn't give a fuсk if his fighters get KOed. He just replaces them with others Wilder still fought for peanuts after 30-40 fights.
Looks like both fighters are going to come in lighter for the rematch!! Feel his weight was an advantage for Ruiz in the first fight, coming in lighter could see his punch resistance go down, especially to the body! He will also look even smaller compared to AJ who towers over him, height wise, even at 260+ he looks like such a midget in comparison so this will be even more noticeable this time around! This fight can't come soon enough!!!
