You'd think so, this is the World of Dave Allen though "another shot at the British Belt Dave, decent money again" whilst Dubois earns easy waiting for a bigger fish to fry that wants it.
Allen has tried to stay relevant and has said dubois name with no intention to fight and warren and co have called his bluff on this ,they know dubois would win and win comfortably against a man with a very good social media profile ,win win for Warren here .Tbh even if he doesn't think he will win its probably biggest payday he will ever get and is for titles , is risk worth the reward before if a was allen a would have said no but now with payday shot at titles he would be aswell too
Christ is Allen only 27! Holy **** I feel old. I keep saying this but I don't blame him. He's playing the ball not the man. No one's going to pay his bills for him when he retires from boxing.
Can’t believe Warren is even entertaining him. Massive step down for Dubois and a conscious decision needs to be made in regards to Allen’s (mental) health.
Unfortunately his best ability is area level, he stinks the place out against good level opponents. Sorry day your yesterday’s poor news
Twitter loves him, casuals love him, esbf users seem obsessed by him which i find strange considering he's a bang average area-level heavyweight who gets opportunities his talent doesn't deserve.I personally wish he would bugger off and try get a gig on corrie or emmerdale as I've no interest in watching him box.
He's doing the whole Anthony Fowler/Ohara Davis thing of replying to negative comments on twitter obsessively. It's the sign of someone very insecure - pretty much any mention of the Price defeat in a way that pokes fun will get a rise from Allen.
The following British heavies are above him, in my opinion, Tyson Fury Antony Joshua Dillian Whyte Dereck Chisora Joe Joyce Daniel Dubois Hughie Fury David Price Nathan Gorman I woud argue that Kamil Sokolowski with a proper camp beats him too, at a push a focused and confident Sam Sexton, although I think he is done now. Allen is no better than the 10th best British Heavyweight at best, he's never won a belt, never won a fight as the underdog (he wasn't the underdog against Webb or Browne, no matter how hard he may try to make out he was) and his style is very much like that of a pub brawler who's had a bit of boxing training. I find it incredible that he's even getting offered a shot at the British title, let alone turning it down because in his little bubble that he's built around himself he believes he's worth more. Apparently he's a fighting man, he'll fight anyone, anywhere, anytime, yet he's turning down an offer that equals his career high payday to fight for the prestigious Lonsdale belt. A few months back he was talking about World titles, a few weeks ago he was talking about retirement, everyday he talks s**t. He should actually follow through with his talk about coming off of social media, where he gets his ego massaged, and actually think long and hard about what he wants. He's the only boxer I know with a highlight videos that consist purely of quotes, bulls**t and delusional quotes. On a slightly different note, we keep hearing about his mental health issues and he's never shy from mentioning them, does anyone now if he's actually getting any help? It's not like he can't afford it now or is waiting in the queue with the average man in the street for cheaper options. I hate people that go on for weeks, months, years about mental health issues but don't do anything about it, I hope he's not one of those.
