its the jr welter division. we just saw the taylor- prograis lhw version. skilled fighters, but there are levels above.
i literally scrolled down the front page and your thread was the next thing i read after posting this. I instinctively thought, "now it looks like im taking ellerbes thought, and trying to pass it off as my own", lol.
Maybe I should go rewatch the Yarde fight but I'd have Kovalev vs Berterbiev as a 50/50 fight Kovalev is a skilled boxer with a great jab and crushing power on intended a win for either would not be expected. Speaking specifically on last night's fight I don't know if it's just me but after about 2 rounds I could see the KO coming Berterbiev seemed the more measured fighter patient with his punches while aggressive at the same time, mentally Gvozyk looked like he was just trying to survive after 6 or 7.
I agree with this. Kovalev is too old to beat Beterbiev. If Kovalev had trouble with Ward's power, he's done for with Beterbiev. This is a very good light heavyweight group. Even the usual naysayers to modern boxing will be forced to give the eventual top dog a place in history.
Beterbiev, Kovalev, Bivol and Gvozdyk make a very good group of fighters at 175. Gvozdyk can come again, having dethroned long time WBC champ Adonis Stevenson and being undefeated prior to the weekend. He's a quality fighter and lost to another quality fighter who had superior strength and firepower.
