It will be tough due to lack of opponents....he may indeed have faced all his best name opponents early on, can't imagine he'll be fighting that much longer, so if he doesn't move up far out of his normal weight class, i dont know any great rivals for him to find. He might as well fight Davis to prove his greatness. He'll probably go down as an extremely talented fighter with a unique style, but without any great rivals it would be hard to classify him as an ATG, unless he picks a weight class and dominates for several years fighting 3 times a year
This. He simply doesn't have good enough competition at 135 and 140 is an even weaker division at the moment. He would need to move up to 147 and do some serious damage for him to be classified as an ATG.
Simple. Fight all the top opponents and become undisputed in 130 and 135 (assuming he won't go to 140 in the future). In 135, he is already on the right track as he is planning to unify against the winner of next IBF title fight. Next, I think he should face Tank Davis and Haney. If he can't get Davis, he should fight Haney. Only those two names I consider top names and threats to Loma's undisputed claim in this division. In 130, he should target Berchelt or Santa Cruz. Or probably have another British bout against Warrington. Loma doesn't have long years left in his prime. I think he can fight up to another 3-4 years. So that means, 6-7 fights at max.
He has some tough young guns to fight, only problem is that none of them have established much of a resume yet, and Loma seems like he would rather have soft touches all of a sudden pulling the, they need a belt line, when he's fought some absolute cans in the past who had no belt.
Regardless of what certain idiots will say... yes with his amateur credentials and unifying 135 or even 130 he’ll DEFINITELY be an ATG. Who else in history has done what he’s done in the ams and in this early in the pros?? None. And that bothers the **** out of some people
Haters gonna hate. You just know that if Lomachenko were American, those same people would be calling him the GOAT.
Hard to say Clear out 130 and 135 That should be enough in my opinion Note: Do not get butthurt over an opinion
I agree 100%. This he has to move up in weight thing is nonsense. What's he has done in his extensive AM career and his shorter pro career will speak for itself. He should move back down in weight and continue to dazzle with his defense, technique and boxing IQ before retiring. That is who he is and arguably does as good or better than anybody. I doubt he will be fighting for too much longer. He has had a hell of a lot of fights and training camps in his career. The body only takes so much of that. He is a little dude. He is best at a lower weight. Before somebody accuses me of being a fanboy, I'd say the same if the guy was Irish, Black, Asian or a friggin Eskimo. He genius is his ability to box in a somewhat unique way. That is best displayed against guys his own size. He does not have the size and physicality to continue to move up in weight.
Beating Fimo/Comney, then Berchelt, then Haney and finally Shakur is legit a.f. Tank will never take the fight so no need mentioning it. HE'll go down as one of the greatest 130-135lbers we've ever known.
Isnt he going for Teofimo Lopez if he wins ? Thats a young gun right there. If Commey beats Lopez then he's worthy of unifying with Loma, dont you agree ? I think you dont like Loma, but he's fighting top opposition, you just move the goal post a lot
I'd like to see him fight Lopez. I don't think very highly of Commey. He's crude, plodding, lacks skill, but does have power. I'd like to see him fight Lopez, Haney, Davis, maybe move up and challenge the Prograis vs Taylor winner. He's talented and skilled enough where he could go for those type of challenges.
