That's it for me also, Hagler firing that piston into Jake's face. Plus Hagler has a decided advantage in power. The Hagler that savaged Sibson and Hamsho might stop LaMotta late.
For me Hagler would lose a very close, disputed decision. LaMotta has an underrated left, he could whip it upstairs and down, set up combos and pump his jab out consistently. Hagler could too, obviously with his right, but for me LaMotta has the better lead. Hagler fought Antuofermo and was blowing afterwards, even though it was a controversial draw, it showed what someone with a Jake LaMotta style could do. The Duran fight also did similar, it was a close win for Hagler but it showed what a good infighter could do with him. LaMotta was a good active infighter with a nice defence and a pfp top 3 chin, he has the right style to beat Hagler and showed he can beat ATGs. I'm aware that LaMotta doesn't throw as much as Antuofermo or fight as fluidly as Duran but he was more physical than both and was definitely a better MW than those 2. Hagler could also take a decision, should he fight how he did vs Briscoe, but LaMotta was better than that version of Briscoe and would land more. Whoever you think wins, it's a brilliant match up and a hard fought win either way.
Hagler looks to control the fight, using his jab with some success, whilst LaMotta stalks him, aiming to shorten the range. The brutality occurs at close quarters, on more or less even terms, but Hagler's work on the outside serves to earn him a comfortable UD in the scoring.
Jake was very cute in there. Far better defensively than given credit for. That being said Hagler was a real technician and would score enough points to win a close decision. No knockdowns. 9-6 in rounds.
