I could imagine him to be a Herbie Hide type of fighter at HW; small at the weight but carries serious fire power. Plus more composure and ring IQ.
Venice Borkhorsor, Sor Rungvisai and Khaosai Galaxy. Extremely strong, powerful with underrated, awkward subtlety, that allows him to more effectively smash his foes. Very composed and experienced. The only major difference is that he's an orthodox.
Yeah, he does have that awkward pull away style and strength moreso of Foreman. He just reminds me of those tough, obscure Thais lol.
Mike Tyson? I mean every fighter who goes forward and crushes opponents reminds of him eventhough they might not be smiliar in style at all. But the dynamics...
Man, this is a tough one. I watched the fight again before erasing from my DVR. AB’s defense was deceptively good. He’s not as crude as some people claim and has a good amateur background. Those body shots were brutal, best I’ve seen from a LH in a while. His speed was about average but his timing on some of his power shots was very good. He isn’t the cleanest fighter, lots of forearm and elbow work inside and he definitely can rabbit punch. Some of his body work was very close to the belt line or below but not as low as a guy like Andre Ward. I wouldn’t compare him to Duran, he’s not as complete a boxer but he has Duran’s mean streak. Qawi is also a different style of boxer (I need to dig up some old videos but I was definitely a fan and remember the Matthew Saad Mohammed fight). Qawi was so short, awkward and was a very tough guy. I think an AB Qawi fight would have been a classic. Wish I had a better answer, I also don’t think AB fights like a young Foreman. George usually had a size advantage and would use a jab. AB really didn’t try to set up anything with a jab. AB was ultra aggressive at times and was more accurate and polished than I remembered him being in previous fights. He seemed to be unstoppable at times, like Duran but with a different style. I’m a fan of his fighting skill but not his politics. That’s another discussion and I’m tired of politics these days as it is.
