Never watched Lewis vs Tyson. Couldn't envision it under than an owning. Never will. Hopkins vs Calzaghe & Kovalev. I figured at some point Joe's workrate would prove difference and to see Hop use every trick & still didn't work, well kudos to Joe. Perfect plan- force Hop to exert early & he's destined to play catch up. I didn't watch Kovalev fight, Just knew he was better & having John David, figured they had a blue print. Hop got owned. Kudos to Kov, but I won't watch a solid fighter get owned because he won't call it quits. All Pac vs Bradley fights. These fights shows just how weak Tim's punches are. Nifty boxer, but Pac walked threw everything he could throw. Just looks weird watching a muscle bound guy throw pillow punches. Alexander vs Kotelnik- Was very impressed with Devon in wins over Witter & Urango. Now he's in his hometown facing a solid contender. Andry did everything right. He beat Alexander. Outboxed him, even kept him honest- didn't turn it into a fight. Stats saw: Alexander 202/1113 & Kotelnik 225/763. That's how I remembered it. Devon had to throw 3x as many as Kotelnik just to connect. Wasn't a blatant robbery, but a fight where judges rewarded quantity over quality of punches.
Tyson-Holmes. Great performance against an ATG who's timing and overall performance was way off. Much rather watch a destruction against someone who isn't clearly trying to shake off ring rust or so far off from prime performance. Holmes-Ali. See above. Pacquiao-De La Hoya. I've never seen a more weight drained and utterly shot fighter in my life. Can't blame Manny for doing what he needed to do, but Oscar would've lost to anyone in the top 15 that night. Not remotely indicative to how a fight would've looked against them at their best at that weight.
Both of these fights are hard for me. Though I love both fighters, I still have a hard time watching Big George looking so bad against Ali.
Any fight where someone dies or is left incapacitated permanently. I don’t rewatch Mancini vs Kim Eubank vs Watson Ben vs McClellan Etc. and others. I just can’t celebrate the performances knowing what happens.
Great call on Diaz vs Campbell. Nate beat Diaz at his own game. His stamina was on point that night. It seemed like whenever Diaz kicked into 5th gear, Nate responded with 6th gear.
I’m a HUGE Duran fan and still find the Moore fight hard to watch. Czyz vs Maynard was hard to watch too...similar to Calzaghe vs Lacy. Dawson vs Ward was hard to watch. Chris Byrd vs Shaun George was shockingly sad too.
