If you only watched Toney at HW you'd think he had no KO power. But that's like only ever watching a car reversing for a few seconds and thinking all cars drive backwards.

His nickname was "lights out" ffs. That's not because he liked sleeping in the dark. He pulled a few wins out of the fire back in the day with one punch KOs. The man could punch but his cheese burger diet forced him to HW where he was a blimp. He survived because he was a master boxer with a granite chin. He KOed Evan Fields at HW, but he landed a lot of punches, by then Evan was past prime and probably closer to the Holyfield version.

Canelo is not pure prime anymore either. Look at some of his workouts and you'll see he has elbow and knee problems; probably as a result of all the explosive weight training he has to do to build and retain that newly "enhanced" muscle mass.

..& actually, what is canelos best win? It's a SD* over a 36 year old triple G isn't? Same guy he drew* with not long before.. Same triple G that people called 'bumlovkin' for years.. umhh.. interesting, when you really get down to the nitty gritty isn't it.. More I think about it the more I see how contrived his career is..

I was ridiculed by the trolls when I said Clenelo was a MANUFACTURED CHAMPION but that is EXACTLY what he is. Sure this is a risk theyre taking , praying Kov is really shot BUT We all know that ,if by some miracle, Clen is still standing at the final bell He "wins" Oscar has that in the bag

Ya, obviously Im of the belief hes simply going to be too small at light heavy to compete against the best.

I will be very impressed if he gets a legitimate win here... I think he will make it competitive but just dont see him winning.

Im in the minority on that. Which kinda shocks me.

Canelo and his team wouldn't take this fight if they didn't feel confident about Canelo's chances

    There's a reason Canelo is a 4-1 favorite

I'll be rooting for Sergey but Canelo wins this

Kovalev is past prime, one dimensional and prone to body shots. It's a very risky fight for Canelo for sure but one he can win. He wants to capitalize on Kovalev's deteriorating form. Even if he wins, where he will go from there is a big question mark. I don't think he'll fight the likes of Beterbiev/Gvozdyk/Bivol or any other prime light heavyweight anytime soon. He won't go for the big boys at SMW either.

My guess would, he'll take an easy, Fielding type of fight next and then go for Saunders' belt on Cinco de Mayo next year in Las Vegas. Eubank Jr might be an option by that time as well.

I do wonder if that’s why both the big A side stars suffer from stamina issues?I know they think they have PEDs,Nutrition and training down to a fine art but you look at someone like Oscar Valdez who runs for miles in the heat and who often wins by being the guy with more stamina.
I’ve absolutely no doubts about Canelos chin and defence but after two wars with Golovkin he could find Kovalev a step too far.

Those odds are really odd.Why would they rate his chances less than Golovkin both times?

If he should defeat a distracted Sergey Kovolov, and win his belt, he is going to find this weight class a huge difference of competition from his accustomed middleweight division.

Sadly everyone in here picking Kova are going to be the same guys making excuses when Canelo beats him.

Lmfao ridiculous , Canelo could've taken easier fights at MW if he wanted but he decided to take a huge risk but clowns like you are so blind and will never give him credit even if he went up to hw to fight Ruiz.

IF HE WAS A MAN HE'D HAVE ACCEPTED THE GGG FIGHT IN MSG BUT NEITHER HIM OR OSCAR HAVE A SET THEYVE GOT TO HAVE THE VEGAS CORRUPTION TO WIN

You said: “But what if he does win? Then what? Do you want to see him risk his health against Smith? Beterbiev? Gvozdyk?”. I find this INCREDIBLY naive. Every single boxer risks their health every single fight. FULL STOP. Every single champion risks their health even more due to elite level competition. FULL STOP. Yes if he wins the goal is in fact to see where he can go and push his limits. That is the sport. I’m not trying to be a jerk here, but that is literally the sport. People risking their health by getting punched in the head for money.

Now, that completely aside let me ask you this in return: Knowing how much money DAZN has invested in Canelo, and knowing his history of P.E.D abuse and bribed/bought/corrupt judgements in his favor over seven or eight different fights:

    https://thegruelingtruth.com/boxing/history-bad-judging-canelo-alvarez/

DO YOU HONESTLY FOR A SECOND BELIEVE HE WILL A: get hurt B: lose?
I’ve been watching boxing for over thirty years, it’s about as controlled as any other billion dollar business, maybe even more so since there is no Federal regulation. Canelo by UD.
