Kovalev is gonna box him, gonna shock Canelo with how quick his hands and feet are. Sergei is not only bigger & stronger than either GGG and Jacobs, but faster and sharper in attack too.
Canelo will be pushing forward the whole fight trying to make it a phone booth brawl (and trying to once again win the narrative of the fight in the eyes of his fans and the judges by making it look like the bigger man doesn’t want to brawl).

But I expect that even if Canelo can take Kovalev’s power early, he’ll suffer for it late. Don't see how he makes the final bell. Kova either straight sleeps him or Canelo drops from attrition, or his corner throws in the towel.

Due to the judging making a prediction and saying I got it right is meaningless unless you call a KO.

Kovalev looks even older. However if is a better out fighter and throws a harder right hand than anyone Canelo fought.

Kovalev is soft in the body, Canelo is going to have to roll the dice to land there.

If the judges are fair, I'll go with Kovalev on points as I think his height and reach will be telling, but my prediction on who wins the fight officially is Canelo.

Looking forward to seeing this one.

I think it’s a 50/50 fight. It all depends on how the fight plays out. I can make an argument for either man winning which is why it’s so tough to call.

At first glance I’m seeing Kovalev’s hand speed and power have diminished, so you automatically think Canelo is gonna blitz him with vicious combos and defend everything coming back with great head movement. Then you gotta think, while this is definitely a faded Krusher, it’s definitely not Pacquiao vs the corpse of Oscar De La Hoya.

As long as Kovalev doesn’t start slow like he did vs Yarde, he doesn’t necessarily need power. We’ve seen time and time again that boxing isn’t all about power. Hell we’ve even seen the Díaz brothers show this in mma. As long as Kovalev is touching and peppering him with 50% power, he might have a chance later in the fight to take command if fatigue sets in on Canelo and the accumulation of punches starts adding up.

On the other hand I feel Canelo is easily the better and more skilled boxer prime or not. If he gets into a rhythm early and makes Kovalev think about nothing but defence then it’s going to be hard to win the fight for Kovalev because Álvarez will be putting rounds in the bank. We’ll have to wait and see how Canelo’s stamina holds up.

I’m reluctantly going to pick Kovalev by decision and I say that because I can easily see it going the other way lol but I guess I have to make a pick.

Canelo is going to target the body and viciously target it.

Canelo stand no chance, really. Their are weightclass for a reason and Canelo will figure out why, in a hurtfull way. Kovalev will be to big for Canel, to tall, and will hit to hard.

Kovalev threw 98 punches in the 12th round against Eleider Alvarez. The stamina will not be an issue nor will his hand speed, which is deceptively fast. After all, who else has been able to land on Ward clean as much as he did? Hand speed was a factor there.

    Kovalev takes it.

Honestly, as fantastic as Canelo is, I get the feeling a lot of people's perception of the fight is being skewed by his relentless body punching destruction of a mediocre Rocky Fielding. Seems as though people are expecting him to walk through Kovalev eventually in a similar fashion.

I wasn't overly impressed with Canelo against Jacobs as the fight progressed into the second half. And Jacobs isn't as good as Kovalev at controlling range with the jab (Jacobs pushes it, whereas Kovalev spears it out there). Canelo coming in above 170 may make him healthier as he doesn't have to shed water, but he's going to be even slower of foot at the weight, and thus more susceptible to Kovalev's distance control. Plus the whole "weight classes exist for a reason" thing.

The more and more I think about this, the more and more I see Kovalev winning emphatically. Would be happy to eat my words if I'm wrong, though, as surprises are the beauty of boxing.

Canelo is carrying more weight this will be a disadvantage to his mobility whilst also loading his knee, Kovalev is a cautious fighter with fast twitch reactions, these are instinctual and degrade very slowly with age,
When Kovalev does hits Canelo early he will not be putting too much steam into them giving him a false sense of security these will be more of a range finder, Yes Alvarez will easily absorb them twisting his head whilst in a Stationary position. kovalev will try to finish the combination with a hook to the body then back on his feet.
Canelo will try to walk Kovalev down early and often whilst stalking him Sergey will try to tie him up, Alvarez will throw kovalev to the ground to force a psychological strength advantage, probably more out of frustration and probably be given a warning, It seems the task is harder then it seems, Watch for Canelo energy slowly to drain around round 4, Bear in mind Canelo will looking to take Kovalev head off in a calculated way. hitting kovalev with spurious accurate shots, Kovalev will not be phased just poker face, then a powerful jab out of nowhere puts Canelo on the seat of his pants,
But it be ruled a slip. Canelo will be throwing loads of hard shots especially swinging hooks to the body the only disadvantage these tactics will cause Alvarez to over extend, Kovalev is more nimble than you think hes making Canelo pay. Canelo stepping up the pace to close the distance, bad mistake Kovalev will turn him constantly whilst jabbing, the moment Kovalev sees Canelo tiring, he then reverts to going on the front foot, surprising Canelos having more success relying on head movement making kovalev miss, Kovalev changes tactic switches to the body with short shots, I see kovalev being cut because of a head class,.. Around round 8 Kovalev takes over, this will be painful and sad, canelo has grit but his corner saves him,10 round stoppage retirement loss TKO10, the sad thing is that Canelo may retire temporarily losing weight to go down may be dangerous under taking ,The Light heavyweight is too dangerous for him Period.
