Prograis clearly won the last 2 rounds so 117-112 scorecard means Prograis only won 1 of the first 10 rounds and 115-113 scorecard means Prograis only won 3 of the first 10. To me this looks like a robbery that they are trying to quietly sweep away under the carpet.
I'm the biggest Prograis fan on the forum, but the decision was just. I thought Taylor won 7-5. 117-112 was ABSURD, but Prograis wasnt robbed. I do feel Regis could potentially win a rematch, but I doubt they'll be one.
Regis doesn't agree with you. The 117 card was poor but the other two well within the acceptable range of scoring I hoped to see and I'd be up for watching a rematch post Taylor unifying if he managed to do so.
Prograis admitted he lost the fight and i think if he declares Taylor as the fair and square winner of the fight, nobody should question that. It was arguably 2-2 after 4 and Prograis also won the last two rounds but 5,6,7,8,9,10 was (more or less) all Taylor. I think 8-4 / 7-5 Taylor is a fair scorecard here. If you stretch it into Prograis favor i can see 6-6 aswell. But no way Prograis won the fight. He was a bit exposed last night. He's no P4P fighter. Taylor isn't neither though. Taylor has ridiculous BAD skin. It's unreal how bad his skin is.
It definitely wasn't a robbery but I, too, thought Prograis did enough to win but I would have been satisfied with a draw. You saw the best performance you're going to see from Taylor whereas Prograis has more upside and I do believe Prograis wins a rematch with a greater sense of urgency. Prograis is just a bit too laid-back. I think we tend to forget how impactful some of these international trips are on some fighters. Prograis was talking about how people were coming up to him and asking for autographs and pictures. He was too humble. The fire wasn't there. But I think he learned a valuable lesson.
Has to be a robbery because how can Prograis have only won 1 of the first 10 by one of the judges? Even 3 of the first 10 for him is a robbery. The fighter that’s looking uncomfortable isn’t necessarily the one losing the round, he’s being made to work but he’s still got the better of the round. That’s how everybody seems to have given Taylor most of the rounds by.
Maybe it's semantics. I categorize a robbery as someone being gifted a decision. This was a very close fight and Taylor fought well much of the fight but I think Prograis did enough to win. When you are fighting in someone else's backyard, though, you have to factor that in. Prograis didn't.
