Another fan boy screaming his guy was robbed in a close fight. I scored it 115 - 113 Taylor. Had the score 115 -113 for Prograis there would have been no complaint from me cause it was that close of a fight. Thats how true boxing fan see close fights. If you think it was a robbery post the clear 7 decisive rnds that were Prograis. You can't. That is why this is nit a robbery.
Interesting method, I scored it in 4 round intervals, that way you don't have to score every round, just in thirds. Taylor won 2/3 to 1/3. Very effective scoring method and you don't have to do all that painstaking adding. It's the wave of the future. Although your 7 minute interval scoring also seems very efficient. The only problem I can see is that it adds up to 35 minutes of scoring. But if you disregard the 1st minute of round 1, it's perfect! I can see that catching on also.
The problem with scoring a boxing match is everybody has their own methods of scoring, we all have our own opinions. The system is flawed. I’m a Prograis fan, but as a boxing fan I can’t simply call a robbery.
I thought Prograis let the fight slip away from round 5-10. He let Taylor get off first and often and he landed hard body punches and good right hooks to the head that at times seemed to wobble or move Prograis Progais lost because: 1) He didnt throw combinations, everything was single shots 2) He waited to counter too much and needed to take initiative 3) His punches started to lose snap but then he got snappier later in the fight 4) He seemed to tire 5) he did a lot of great work at times where he would double or triple the jab and come forward and get Taylor to the ropes only to back off without throwing. He put in the work to get Taylor to where he needed him but let the good effort go to waste it was very frustrating to be honest What Prograis did well: 1) Hard jab when he threw it. Did a good job doubling and tripling 2) Very good head movement 3) Very good body punching 4) Countered effectively I liked what I saw from both men but Taylor was the only winner here. It reminded me a little of Froch vs Dirrel where Dirrel and Prograis were terrific in spots but Taylor and Froch were so consistent that they edged it. If Prograis could have fought 7 or 8 rounds like he did in the last 2 he could have won the fight. I would love a rematch of this fight
As I attempted to advise my American brethren in the run-up to the fight, Taylor is a skillful fighter with a great deal of dog in him. Personally I expected a razor tight, either-fighter-could-make-an argument-for-the-win type of fight. The actual fight was a brilliant performance by two superb fighters who are the absolute class of the 140lbs division. That said, I had the fight 115-113 for Taylor and didn't feel as if it was an overly difficult fight to score. I thought Josh landed the harder shots on balance and deserved the nod.
I gave RP 3, 4, 5 (super close), 11, and 12. Prograis is one of my favorite fighters but his defense got exposed in this one.. He didn't put his gloves up or make any adjustments when his bobbing and weaving proved ineffective against Taylor's reach on the outside and kept bobbing and weaving even as Taylor lit him up on the inside. His offensive strategy was good in theory (go to JT's skinny body), but Taylor kept his gloves high & elbows low to neutralize Prograis' body work and Regis never adjusted. Taylor was more aggressive (border-line dirty with the shoulder pushes) & had better timing, especially out of the clinch. The L puts Prograis in an interesting position where he's lost the bogeyman status he was starting to get at 140 but hasn't lost any respect. He's scared of nobody and has got nothing to lose, so why not call out Crawford at 147? It's a $$$ fight that Crawford/Arum would be inclined to take given their lack of viable opponents & favorite status, and RP could make a close fight of it.
Agreed, round 11 could have went either way as well. Round 12 was Prograis though, I had it 116-112 rounds 3,4,11 & 12 Prograis and rounds 1,2,5,6,7,8,9 & 10 Taylor. Now round 1,3,10 & 11 could have went either way imo. Taylor won the fight though.
Barely winning a few early and late rounds, and being beaten up and nearly stopped on a few occasions in the middle rounds, now constitutes as a robbery? Get a grip. Taylor won it 116-112 or 115-113 fair and square. In no way shape or form did Prograis do enough to win that. And I say that as one of the biggest hypers of Prograis on the forum.
Not a robbery. Peculiar scoring of rounds aside, I had a draw or Taylor 7-5. I have no problem with the decision. It seemed like Prograis was getting outworked in the middle of the fight.
Lmfao, grow up, little boy. Your scorecard is **** and you know it. Prograis lost. End of discussion.
Club fighter Taylor is a cheating thug who likes to cheap shot hobbits after the bell Was disgusting robbery Thought the hobbit won 120-108 myself
