Is Tyson Fury the first non titlist to pretend he has a title?

Deontay scrambled his brains, he's grown delusional. He'll be coming down the ring with a wwe title belt when that's stint is over. Needs to be kept away from the bronze bomber for his own sake!

And yet as ridiculous as it seems, Fury's angle it makes more sense than having multiple 'world champions' in the same division who don't fight, the alphabet belts. It makes more sense than stripping belts and then having people like Martin win those belts by someone's knee popping and becoming world champions.

If Ruiz was stripped of a belt now and someone like Chisora, who Fury beat twice, was allowed to fight for the belt after defeating Price and Polish (which seems likely now), then won by injury retirement or even genuinely, would you consider him a more legit champion than Fury because he won a belt? If so, you're being ridiculous.

The fact Fury beat an incredibly dominant champ in Wlad strengthens his 'lineal supremacy' claim quite a bit, if we're using it the way he is, to prove he is a more rightful king of the HWs than the others. The fact Joshua beat Wlad weakens it a little, but Wlad by then was older and no longer king and of course he retired admitting he didn't really have it anymore when the rematch was offered. However, imagine Joshua hadn't fought Wlad, that Wlad retired after Fury fight, who would Joshua have beaten that surpassed Fury's victory? That could prove he was better than Fury before they met in the ring? And if Ruiz had beaten a Joshua whose best win was shot Povektin, again, would this be better than Fury's victory? Here you can see the lineal thinking making sense.

The way to solve it and stop someone like Fury making these claims is to have only one championship belt. Then he wouldn't bother doing it because the only reason he does is that there are all these different champs claiming to be the king. If there's only one, he'd try to fight them and it would be settled.

Belts are meaningless anyway these days, it matters who you have beat in the ring. Me and I think most others want to go back to the days when there was a single belt.

One belt does not only let everyone know who is the champion, but more importantly more good competitive fights will be made.

You can not beat the universally ranked number three guy in the division, win his belt, then run around claiming you are the best in the world, while hiding and avoiding real fights when there is only one belt!

Audley Harrison acted like the WBF was a real world title when he won that Eubank Jr with the IBO

I mean at least those two had a physical belt.

Fury is a joke he has one draw with Wilder in 4 years in which he was given a 15 count and needed every second, and acts like he's the man

Fury does have a title - the Mayan belt. Which is really meaningful. Honest.

Danny Green had the Australian public convinced that he was a legitimate cruiser weight world champion when he had the IBO title and was contesting it at 185 pounds.

i am not even angry at fury, i am more disappointed at the fans backing up his claims despite claiming that they want less titles in boxing.

I guess you right . Its just hard to knock on the guy when he came out of inactivity overweight as f and gave that performance against wilder in his own back yard . That was barely a year ago

    That was just wow

If beating one of the most dominant champions in history doesn't make you lineal then what's the point in having a lineal title?

Most boxers talk **** & create a narrative.. its part & parcel.. he is right tho in the sense that he dethroned the guy who most people considered 'the man' at HW.. but lineal is flakey & always has been.. whether u support the idea or not it's just Fury self promoting & talking himself up like a lot of fighters do.. no one really cares that much about it either way
