Mayweather/Pacquiao is the biggest letdown in the history of boxing.... Period

6 years of anticipation for this superfight all went crashing down on the night of May 2nd....

The first fight that pops up that I thought was gonna be a snoozefest but ended up being a classic would be Taylor vs Wright....

Bowe - Golota. At the time - and remember, this is a 1996 perspective - Bowe was on a good comeback, turning back a series of undefeated young heavyweights before finally proving that he was the best man in the division with a win over a resurgent (see the Mercer fight) Holyfield. I'd seen Golota fight and was sort of impressed, but I didn't think he was near Bowe's level & that Bowe would take him out within five rounds or so in a fairly boring methodical way. Boy was I wrong (about a lot of things!). It was a great dramatic fight to watch live on HBO.

Lewis didn't have to go to war with Rusdock or Golota as expected.

Mark Medal v Carlos Santos: two middling, competent pros facing off for a lesser version of the world’s junior middleweight title. A recipe for an uninspiring snoozefest? Nope - pure boxing alchemy and KO magazine’s Fight of the year for 1984!

Slick cutie John David Jackson against tough but limited Jorge Castro went the way it was expected for 8 rounds until Jackson got overconfident and went for the knockout leading to one of the most remarkable single round comebacks in boxing history.
