Never convinced of Ward's greatness at 175. Kova beat him comfortably the first time around. Spinks finishes it within the limit.
I like Ward more than most on this forum (general as well), but think Spinks would beat him. Ward would make it ugly and Spinks would have to be sharp but he should be able to take a nice decision. Not sure I see him stopping Ward unless it happens in the 13-15 round realm.
Spinks creates an even bigger problem for Ward than what Kovalev presented in their first fight. Spinks’ jab and awkward style is a bad style match up against Ward and I see Spinks winning by decision in a boring and ugly fight IMO.
It would be an ugly fight early on because of the awkwardness of both fighters. But Spinks had the better jab, better power, and better skills overall. The "Jinx" would land cleanly within 8rds,it would be goodnight Mr.Ward. Spinks is a top 3-4 light heavy possibly #1 on anyone's rating if they know anything about boxing . Ward on the other hand was simply good for his era. Only reason I give him 8rds because he was awkward and Spinks wasn't super aggressive like B.Foster and was patient inside the boxing ring.
Ward clinches a lot but being that close to the much bigger Spinks gets him hit with a Marvin Johnson style left and survives one of them, not the follow up
