Why is he pronouncing his name like that? it's not that hard, pronounced exactly how its spelled. Max sounds like he's backtracking

 

It's possible that Gvozdyk was, erm, if not forced but let's say pushed a little bit into this fight. In his recent interview Berebiev mentioned that a fight with Gvozdyk was the reason he signed with Top Rank (he demanded it as a guarantee almost the same way as Golovkin demanded a fight with Canelo before signing with DAZN). It's possible that TR officials influenced (or even forced) Egis Klimas to choose Beterbiev over other top opponents. And Klimas influenced Atlas (they are in close relations, Gvozdyk found Teddy through Klimas).

It's also possible that Atlas (he chooses opponents for Gvozdyk now) just significantly underestimated Beterbiev. Anyway, in several ways Gvozdyk lost this fight even before the fight itself. He wasn't 100% mentally ready for Artur.

He did a brave thing agreeing to fight Beterbiev anyway, that's true.

This will always be the GOAT "boxing' movie. Yeah it's more no holds barred fighting(due to kicks and rough house tactics being used in some of the fights but IDC) this has a level of grit and realism that's always enthralled me in the way that the fake feeling Hollywood boxing movies haven't. Don't get me wrong... The Rocky movies are fun and all but mostly for their campy charm.

 

Agreed. I can't believe Bronson was 53 here. Amazingly healthy.

And with the story, they give you just enough to infer, but not really know, Chaney's past, and it's very intriguing. Self contained, and all loose ends are tied, all alongised brilliant performances that aren't overacted. Its a shame Bronson didn't work with Hill again.

Did you know the guy in the last fight was actually a stunt man on short notice?

Yep... No convoluted BS. a good setting with colorful characters who speak for themselves based on their actions. That's proper storytelling.

I actually didn't know that... But Nick Dimitri's reputation speaks for itself. It's guys like him that inspired Brad Pitts character in Once upon a time in Hollywood.

 

I just wanted to reply to the posters who think Aj quit.

AJ fought like a true warrior and he did not give no ref a god dam “look” of submission. He fought so valiantly and absorbed so many punches that he was just out of it when the ref motioned him.

Imo, AJ fought with more courage than Gvovdyk. Gvovdyk didnt look himself against beterbiev and it showed how intimidated he was.

I give more credit to AJ
