Jones a physical freak, and great at setting traps, but Tunney easily the best mover and planner he would face at 175. Im actually leaning towards Jones, but let me think.
Jones would too wary of Tunney`s counters the same way he was v Griffin in their first bout, if RJ tried to blitz Tunney he would get countered to death, I think Tunney`s jab was better than the jab of anybody Jones faced and would be too much for Jones to ovdercome.
At LHW I think Tunney would give RJJ all he could handle. The footage I've seen of him makes it clear that he was a very composed boxer with an elusive and clever style. I'm not sure who wins.
Ill say Tunney surprises a lot of people and beats Jones. Not easily but he does it over the distance, Tunney comes out looking battered but his hand is raised.
Jones Jr beats him. Bad. I used to think Tunney but the Jones of the Toney fight, which was 170 on fight night, would beat Tunney's ass, his feints and speed would be very confusing to an upright fighter who's main weapon was a jab. Roy would be out of range for Gene's body shots and has his own right hand to keep Tunney honest. To be perfectly honest I don't see why Jones isn't Favourite.
Roy brings way too many quicks. He catches Gene leaning in with his weird pushed right hand and thus begins the firdt of a few KD's until it is finally called by the ref in 6.
Roy makes Tunney go crosseyed for the first five rounds then he slowly adjusts and starts beating on Roy. Close decision for Tunney with Roy hanging on in the last rounds. At 15 Tunney might stop him
Roy can’t take a good punch. Tunney was as tough as they come. Tunney could wack with his right hand and was quick and clever enough to put it over.
Gene couldn't take a fighter of color. 68 fights and he never dared dip his toes in those waters. Roy wasn't even mildly disturbed until he was 35, an age by which Gene had been retired for 4 years. Roy had too much athleticism, too much fast twitch, too much power and too much skill, a skill adopted to his generational talents.
