interesting take that many people resort to, when trying to close down a discussion. Personally I find it just as easy to say that one must be a Ward hater to say that it was not a close and debatable decision...but that really won’t get us anywhere.

Personally I am not a fan of either but felt Ward edged it. I can also see cards for Kovalev without automatically trying to discredit the motives behind them as biased although some cards on both sides are.

But to the point at hand I don’t really care about the hall of fame. To many guys in who shouldn’t be and to many excluded that warrant inclusion. By my standards kovalev should be in the discussion but I wouldn’t be ready to rule him in/out just yet. Not sure how a fight against Canelo at this weight would be among Kovalev’s best wins, although perhaps the best name. So the way the hall operates yes, this could be what seals his inclusion.

On the flip side, should he lose (and I don’t expect him to although I would say it is possible) does the case against him become a problem?

    Interesting debate.

I thought the rematch settled the issue though. Ward was found to be the superior fighter at the end of the day despite giving up size/power etc. As controversial as the stoppage was Ward had Krusher hurt and ultimately Sergey was the one who folded.

Kovalev is still a really good (not great imo) fighter. This weekends bout against a blown up (though huge) jr middle will give us a better understanding as to his true standing.

Been a long time since I watched it, but I had it 1 more point / round than you for Kov. Maybe I should rewatch.

They went nuts as in they celebrated not giving a crap that it was a robbery but talking to them you could tell they knew he’d lost.

I’ve got photos from the fight and with around Jones so you can question it all you want but the proof would make a list out of you.

Probably. Hopkins, Pascal x2, Canelo, Eleider Alvarez plus the first fight with Ward - it's not overwhelming, but by watered down standards of the Hall he'd probably end up there.

He beat Ward the first time.
Hes shot now. No chin resistance his timing is shot and he has trouble landing the rt hand now.
Canelo picked him because hes shot Not because hes the best LHW. Canelo as usual is full of sheet.
Breaks my heart to say Canelo wins this fight. Probably stops him.

I agree. And Kovalev w/ out his surly confidence is a sitting target. I won't pay anymore for these events. Especially out of Vegas. It's all scripted beforehand. But I would love Canelo Sean O'Gradyd by Kovalevs Andy Ganigan out of nowhere like 38 yrs ago yesterday.

Boxing would be better for it if suddenly crushing KOs happened for underdogs more often.

I was talking about how Monzon and Hagler were fortunate enough to have name welters meet them when Hagler and Monzon were younger.

Kovalev is past his prime at age 37 a reason why Canelo who can no longer make 154 took this match.

And yes Hopkins best win a Middle is likely vs Tito. My point is GGG while in his prime never got the opportunity to face the best welters. They didn’t want to get knocked out and stayed put.

anyway you will see 3G avenged, do not fret my friend.

Kov will krush Canelo in 12 hours from now so bad that he will have to move back to welter, he will be so small!
