A lot of Marciano`s opponents were small and not very good how would a light heavy as good as Kov is fare against these fighters and keep in mind how old Louis was when he lost to Rocky, could have have outsped Joe at that point in terms of handspeed and could he have beaten any of Rock`s other opponents?
I'm gonna assume you mean Marciano's ranked opponents rather than the bums he was fighting as a 7 fight novice. Losses to Charles, Walcott, Moore 50/50 Layne, LaStarza and Louis Beats Matthews, Cockell, Savold and Bucceroni
Kovalev can’t take a body punch and lacks fighting heart. No knowledgeable boxing fan should support such a fighter who is missing the basics of what makes a fighter a good fighter.
I think he'd probably beat most of them. There's a high level group where it gets iffy and where the answer is: probably not.
If you don't change your tune, i'm going to permanently ban you. Stop saying in every post that every fan who disagrees with you has no knowledge of boxing. Stop claiming that world class fighters are "garbage" or "no good". Even though this is a first warning, consider it a final warning. And have a little think about this: almost nobody would miss you.
I disagree with the not very good part. Charles and Moore were very good, Walcott on his game excellent. Kovalev is big hitter and near top boxer. He was near even with Ward, an undefeated pound for pound the of a boxer in their combined rounds fought. Durability is Kovalev's biggest issue, so he'd likely lose to Charles, and Moore, though I would make him a live underdog in both fights. Walcott might lose a decision as his style didn't like boxer-puncher types and sometimes backed off much. Marciano was 5-0 vs. these three, Kovalev I think would be 1-4 or 2-3
I'd have him heavy Favourite over all Bar the top 3, where I'd have Moore and Wallcott favourite over him by a wide margin and Kovalev a slight favourite over that version of Charles
I actually think that Spinks, Foster, Loughran and Greb all have better chances than Tunney. I think Gene is overrated H2H
Personally I believe Tunney to be better than everyone on that list, though Loughran and Greb are very near his skill, and Spinx not far behind. I find Foster overrated h2h
the questions is interesting. And this has changed since Kovalev's losses against Ward and Alvarez. There is something to be said for handpicking and avoiding tough challenges. Kovalev has not.
